Turbo question

Featured Replies

Is the Mk1 vRS a KO3 turbo? Will the KO4 turbo from the 225hp engine fit and will it give greater performance?

I believe it's a KO3s, which is in between them.

If you fitted the KO4, you'd need a remaps.

Got Stage 1 REVO remap.....Garage will do Stage 2 for £50 plus cost of 4bar fuel pressure thingy

I think there's more to it than unbolting the K03s and bolting on the K04. I'm sure I've read that oil feeds are different and possibly you may need the manifold too.

Don't quote me on that though!

Not really you would be better off fitting a "Bigger" turbo for not much more money

What turbo would you fit? How much would it cost?

I know it can be done, but I don't know how too do it or which one to use. Theres plenty of info as quite a few people have done it. Theres a little button up the top of the page called "search" try having a look in there :)

I think GT28 rings a bell try searching that

Or try a search on the IHI vf34 Jabba do.

Price will depend on what or if your car is already modified i.e. FMIC, sports exhaust + cat, induction kits etc. etc.

Another vote for the Jabba IHI, it makes it such a sweet car to drive, thats drive past M3's etc :D:D

Whatever you fit look at the powerband you are going to get, DONT focus just on BHP. Big turbos = big power = long time to wind up = the other guys already left :) If the straights long enough he will catch you up but long straights arent what we mostly drive on

Its great to talk bhp in the pub but its on the road that it matters. On my second cannonball I left a 600 bhp Supra through the Andoran mountains with a 225 bhp 4x4, it just took so long for it to wind up it never got going before the next corner.

the K04 can be fitted relatively cheaply but will still need at least a new manifold, turbo, downpipe, boost pipes, oil lines and water lines then a remap so even buying everytyhing second hand and fitting it you self your still looking at around £500 in parts and £500 remap then some labour on top.
