18 inch rims help just a quicky

Featured Replies

hi everyone i am wanting to get some 18inch r32 rims fo my fabia firstly will ride comfort be shattered? also will they go straoght on no problems what tyre size should i get ? also i am wanting to lower the car a little bit say only 30mm what springs can i get and will it fit the wheels ok in terms of catchment? many thanks cheers

Have you looked on some of the sites such as Alloy Wheels - Specialist supplier of alloy wheels and tyres packages, 0% Finance and Fast Delivery to see that these will fit as they have an online fitment guide. If its the MK5 R32 then they wont be a straight fit as the offset is different. If its the MK4 R32 fitment then this is the same as your vRS however not sure about the ride on 18s as this will probably be harder than on your current set up. Out of interest why not go for a really good set of 17s and lower it even further that way getting a great look without affecting the ride/handling of the car.

I would have thought the ride will be a little harsh yes!

I think you need 35 high tyres, but not 100%.

many thanks for the link mate went on but they do not go above 17 inch bummer!!! i just wish i could find a replica company that did them cheap for say around 399 but no luck yet

MK4 R32 rims are 18" as standard, and they will fit on your car no problem. Eibach do a spring kit that lowers the car 25mm. Tyres will need to be 215/35/18, and will look stretched. Ride comfort will suffer, but not massively. 17" wheels and -25mm gives the best compromise between looks and handling imho.

Spinners !

ha ha spinners awesome i will get some ordered then ha ha with the performance be affected with 18 inch rims on? cheers thanks again

I know somewhere that can get the reps you need with tyres. I had MKV GTI replicas on my beetle £450 with v good rubber. if you want the details let me know. you're heart set on 18s then?

ha ha spinners awesome i will get some ordered then ha ha with the performance be affected with 18 inch rims on? cheers thanks again

Rolling radius is spot on - ie speedo and gps read exactly the same at whatever speed. Performance will be affected if you use replica's, as they are heavy - very heavy.

hi guys many thanks for your posts i love the r32 mk1 wheels they are awesome and have seen them on red vrs dave_vrs i think and they looked stunning but i do not want to ruin the car in nyway cos its an animal at the moment lol!!!! i know this is silly but an you get light 17 inch rims at a good price?? cheers

If you want lightweight 17" alloys the best bet is OZ alloys, Super T's, or Ultraleggra's are nice, but expect to pay close to £1000

i've always had a soft spot for these.

However not 18's and also not 5 stud so why i'm telling you i do not know!!

Ronal%20R10%20Turbo.jpg

not a fan of those Ronal wheels they pit terribly with the ****ty weather we have here in the UK plus they tend to only suit really small cars like loops.

Have u looked at TSW wheels?

Agree with Shifty, don't buy replica buy wheels they are very heavy and they are completely crap quality too. And every1 has them lol! Hence why I got rid of them. They looked alright on the car tho lol!

I would love to get some smaller wheels on mine and slam it on the deck even more, but I need 18's to accomodate the brakes lol! :)

Give me ur brakes lol

Hey dude. Check the wheels thread for pics of my car, but I also thought what you are thinking before I got my alloys.

I also wanted R32 Alloys, but originals where expensive and replicas where so heavy. So I got some OZ SuperT's. They where not cheap, but they are lightweight. They look amazing.

Tyres have to be a 215X35R18 fitment otherwise the speedo will be off. Ride does alter alot. I currently find that when your really pushing hard on rough country lanes the car does become unstable. Its not a nasty unstable but its enough to make you hold on tight and really concentrate. On good road surfaces however the car is amazing. I am using Toyo Tyres, and I have found that even without the Jabba ARB the back end breaks away with alot more progression that before, and the snap-over-steer; does not seem to be anywhere near as bad.

This might be the wider tyres or the lowering - either way I'd definitly recommend it.

believe me a set of octy alloys will come along, get a thread started in the wanted section, i was Pm'd by a lad selling some then ended up getting 312's off him too - bargain aswell :)

Thing is with the octy alloys your only going to pay, |£300 or so but if you have to shell out on new alloys your talking £1000.

You know it makes sense

very good advice mate only thing is i want a mint set not some that need refurbing i m a very picky fat lad lol

Refurb is only 40/50 quid a wheel so you could pick up a bargain and get them mint for not much clobber, if you know what i mean, 2 of mines need refurbed but they will do the now
