Fabia Spare Tyre

Featured Replies

Hi, I've got a 51 plate Fabia, 1.4 comfort.

This is a really simple question (I'm a simple guy) but I have a slow puncture on my front passenger side tyre. I was considering putting the spare on, but I've heard that some spares are mini - spares? only intended for a short distance at a low speed.

I had a look tonight, and my spare tyre seems the exact same as the other 4. Its brand new, with tread markings visible. Its also the R14 size of all my other tyres.

Is there any major issue with swapping the two and being on my merry way? It doesn't look like a "mini spare" and I can cope with a slow puncture on my spare.

Thanks in advance, think these forums are ultra helpful.

It will be fine.

My VRS spare says dont exceed 50mph, but its a lot of rubbish as its a full size spare.

Just stick it on and use it like a normal tire

Your spare is the same size as the four wheels on the Fabia, so you can drive at normal speeds with this spare. The narrow 'space saver' spare wheels that you see on some cars are restricted on max speed (usually has a yellow speed warning label), Another problem with the space saver is that when you take the punctured tyre off of the car the wheel well in the boot is not deep enough for it. Great when the boot is loaded up!

My fabia has a full size spare but has the warning label on it!!

Doesn't it have the warning sticker on the full size spare in case it's a single direction tyre?????

Cheers

Dave.

Must be that then /\

My fabia has a full size spare but has the warning label on it!!

May put the warning label on to cover themselves, as an alloy wheel will behave diferently to a steel wheel. Also likely to be different size wheels and tyres. My octy has a proper steel wheel but has the warning label on. There's bound to be people who will put one of these spares on and drive round like an idiot and have an accident, The label will allow the manufacturer to say you were told.

I may be wrong but makes some sense to me. If the spare is the same type as the other 4 on the car (ie all 14'' steel) then it should be ok to use. I always swapped them back when it was repaired though.

My job's full of these situations. They say machine shouldn't be used on certain angles, when you know it can. Covers them if we use it on an angle which results in having an accident.
