Immobiliser

Featured Replies

Hi guys, im not sure if im putting this in the right place lol so sorry if its not in the right place.

I have a skoda favorit 1.3 Glxi and yesterday i went to my car and my immobilser wasn't working, i placed it in the hole and the little red light next to the hole continued to flash red to tell me it was still immobilised.

Luckily my mum had a spare immobiliser (we share the car) but it makes it really awkward cause we keep having to swap immobilier keys over. anyone know what could be wrong with it and how to fix the key or bypass the immobiliser?

thanking you in advance

Kind regard,

Tom.B :)

That said, I'm honestly not sure that the Favorit had a factory immobiliser anyway.

Just found this thread. A little background information... The Favorit did *not* have a factory immobiliser, but they were all sold with the same aftermarket system installed. They consist of a small black key with 4 metal contacts that can only go in one way around. The immobiliser unit itself is secured underneath the instrument panel and has various black wires coming out of it that I can't figure out where they go (suppose the real way to go about removing it would be to set aside loads of time, cut all the wires and try check which wires lead where by checking continuity with a multimeter.)

As for getting spare keys, the person I got my car from had some sort of debacle with getting immobiliser keys made (can't remember all details, I think a garage put the key in and tried to turn it snapping it and the wrong key got sent off to be copied). The place that copied the key was based in Kent and I understand they provided some sort of service where you post the key to them but it takes a couple of weeks?

I don't know the details of the company in Kent or if they still do do Favorit immobiliser keys. I will try and find out for you as I have just had the same thing happen with the *only* immobiliser key I have recently, but I wiped the key on my shirt and it worked then. I guess for me it's probably easier to try get the immobiliser removed.

The other suggestions I have is that if the contacts on the key are wearing away, it could be worthwhile trying cleaning the key with meths, then use silver conductive paint carefully (making sure the contacts do not end up joined with the paint) and hopefully this will help aid the contacts.

Just started some aggressive aftermarket immobiliser info searching on the net and found the logo attatched. Also included is a pic of my key.

I therefore suspect the aftermarket immobiliser is a meta system one.

According to this thread, http://www.briskoda.net/forums/other-skoda-models/favorit-immobiliser/54270/ it's no longer possible to get the keys and the best approach is to get the immobiliser removed. I have however e-mailed a company in Durham I have found on the internet to ask if they can do them and if so how much.

It is a Meta system. The immobiliser unit is in the left hand footwell at the base of the A post. When they were new they came with 2 keys and were limited to a maximum of 5 keys throughout their service life, the keys can be Black (original supply with the car?), Green (pre-coded from Skoda?) or Red (uncoded blank?) Dealers had a machine that could transfer the code from one key to a replacement, it could not duplicate the code.

Any auo electrician should be able to remove it.

They must have installed them in different locations. Mine is right underneath the instrument panel. I have noticed some scotchloks near the fusebox, and I suppose the only thing they could be for is the immobiliser.

Response I have had is that the keys are no longer available and haven't been for some time.

Suppose an easy bodge would be to remove the key receptacle thingy, hide it inside the dash, and tape the key to it.
