Help, any ideas

Featured Replies

Last night whilst approaching a very familiar bend at a good 15mph slower than usual at the apex - my 2001 PD100 combi snapped into violent oversteer, and then went just as violently the other way when attempting to correct it.

This has never happened before, and it was so violent that the cubby hole covers in the boot came away (empty with nothing behind them) and flew around the boot.

All wheels are inflated correctly, a good tug on each wheel suggests nothing nasty going on.

The car is standard bar a set of vRS alloys 205/45x16 Kuhmo's with good tread.

It has started 'white lining' in the past week or so, and wandering across the road on imperfections but nothing like this.

Oh, and I checked the road, no oil or anything else for that matter on the road.

I'm baffled, any ideas??

Suspension component worn? Track rod end?

Maybe you overlooked an ice patch?

There are few people on here who are members of the IBMA inverted Briskoda members association and most on furbies with vrs size wheels....just a thought that maybe in certain conditions or at a certain tread depth they could cause this snap over/understeer

Well, it happened again this morning. 1030am, roads were gritted and I entered a known slippery island at 20mph cautiously.

The front end understeered then suddenly the back came around sharp as you like.

I've now got paving slabs in the boot to try and balance the engine.

Is something broken? I've kicked and puled everything I can - the only thing I've recently noticed is a suspension squeek ... could that be a broken spring?

sounds like something is wrong to me... if you are only going steady and its breaking aways so fast, my guess is something may be broken, take it to a trusted garage, and describe your symptoms, and have it looked at....

Broken spring or the top mount bearing knackered pehaps?

This might sound an odd one but do you have any diesel leaks??

My old 306 had a slight diesel leak from one of the high pressure pipes coming off the diesel tank ( which was leaking onto my back wheel ) which caused horrendous handeling and resulted in my car going off the road.

Just a thought
