Does anyone know how much the power cables for the steering pump, alternator and starter motor is please?

I am still getting the annoying power steering light issue when its cold. Had it in at Dennis Hortons (Lincoln) and they have run all sorts of tests on it. It came back showing either an instrument cluster fault or the databus cabling?

With out spending hundreds of pounds on doing tests for databus cables and replacing the instrument panel. I thought I would look at more simple options. I know that people have reported that the power cable for the alternator has caused funny readings to be had by the instrument cluster? The when that was changed the light stopped coming on.

Was going to change all the power cables if relatively cheap, as I am keeping the car for another 3 or so years.

have you looked at the cabling in the N/S wheel arch area? That is the common place for failure.

Do you have a full Skoda Service History??

I have cleaned the connectors etc and visually checked the wiring and all would appear okay? I was wondering if one might have a break internally?

My car came with a full skoda service history. However, as it is out of warranty. I have not kept it up at garages as I service it myself at the specified intervals.

If it does turn out that you need an engine bay wiring loom then Skoda have a goodwill program in place for this part and for a car with a full history you can claim the full cost of parts.

Others are considered on a sliding scale.

Your dealer will need to ascertain if that is indeed the cause of the replacement. They will then apply to Skoda for a goodwill claim.

As you don't have a FSkSH it will still be a hefty bill I expect as IIRC the loom is around £950.

Can the power cables be renewed individually or are they part of a big loom?

It really depends on which cables you mean. It would be better to discuss it with your dealer and he can look on the parts system for you.
