Steering/shaking/knocking

Featured Replies

Hi All

I am new to this site and am looking for some help/advise,

My father has a 1996 felicia 1300 estate, he has a problem wheras there is a knocking noise coming from the front, when this happens it shakes and is getting worse, I drove it the other day, sometimes it drives perfectly then all of a sudden it starts knocking and shaking and pulls really hard to the left, taking your foot off the accelerator it eases off, it gets so bad you have to stop. if you drive off again it is sometimes fine, then after a while it will start doing it again, all bushes etc seems ok was wondering if it is something to do with the diff as it is intermittent any help appreciated

cheers

Trevor

It sounds like it could be a CV joint, or driveshaft failing. I would get it checked out as soon as you can - and if its getting to the stage where you can't drive it, you probably shouldn't use it anymore.

:)Welcome.

I would check the driveshaft joints, front tyres for bulges and the lower front spring mounts.

sounding like a driveshaft inner cv to me

there are about a million little needle roller bearings in there, and if a few get loos they can be a right pain.

hit the scrapyard - new driveshaft - bout an hours work., job done.

mine was making a loud bang ever now and again i have had this problem for months, slowly getting worse but it was the bottom ball joint bolt had come loose. when the steering was rocked it seemed like the track rod or steering gear was buggered and the ball joint didnt show any signs of movement. worth a look
