I want to install a second cigarette lighter/power socket in the Octavia to power my GPS without stretching the power lead to the existing power socket in the centre console. I'd like to connect to this socket but need to get the centre console out in order to gain access. I know the front edge unclips and hinges up slightly but how do I release the back of the console?

You advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you remove the rear ash tray there are some bolts underneath it.

I've pulled out the insert of the ashtray - do I have to remove the ashtray and integrated cupholder assembly?

If it's anything like the Fabia (which it probably isn't ) you remove the rear ashtray/cup holder which will be very stiff and then there's some Torx screw under that. I also have an ashtray at the front of the console which lifts out and there's some screws under that. Unpop the plastic inset under the handbrake and the whole unit lifts up.......

Have discovered a way to get to the plug for the power socket without removing the console - although it's fiddly

However, have now decided to make an extension lead with parts from Maplin and plug into the socket normally - rather than splicing wires. It won't be quite as neat as a direct connection but at least I won't risk invalidating the warranty!
