Is this a good buy? Used vRS PD

Featured Replies

Hi, have been offered a June 07 Silver Tdi vRS from a Skoda Dealer for £16200.

Has the jumbo pack (but not the 18" alloys, although not bothered about that) and options of:

Cruise

Maxidot

Light Assist

Rear Park Sensors.

Is this a decent price?

Steve

Seems a fair price from my recent experience of looking at what they were going for through main dealers

18" were probably subject to a swap with another vRS.

Good spec though, covers the essentials.

What about mileage?

  • Author

Oooops........miles is just over 5k, ex demo car, no marks inside or out except for one tiny stone chip.

I guessed the alloys were swapped, but be truthfull Id prefer the 17", rubber will be cheaper and more brands selling that size and ride not so harsh.

Cheers

Yeah that seems a good price to me. Still make sure you haggle them. I bought an ex demo car, and got 12 months tax and a ful tank of fuel. Check no alloys have been scuffed too, and get them repaired foc.

I was thinking ex demo by the spec.

Push them hard on the price and then push a little harder.

The tyres will be 225/45/R17, for your reference I just bought a pair of Conti Sport SP3's for £200 fitted. I would check the tyre treads closely seeing as it's a demo car. Those front wheels can spin all too easily ;)

I think the vRS looks good in silver and there aren't many of them on the road either. Go for it

Car had £1000 off it (according to sticker on the windscreen) anyway, asked for a better price and he came back with another £800 off making it 16200. Will try for the extra 200 off tommorrow or a free service instead!

I spoke to another dealer and mentioned this deal and he thought it was a good price so will prob be putting a deposit on it tommorrow.

I have just been PMing Stu regarding the BT kits, may get them to recode this as part of the deal too.

Steve

Yeah definately push for everything, they'll want to sell it as much as you want to buy it. Go for the years road tax, and remember if you don't ask you don't get.

Definitely has a good spec with the most desirable and usable options; with exception of xenons that IMHO are an absolute must but loads of people look at the 'toys' first and worry about the serious kit later.

You're right about tyre prices - about £40 per tyre difference like4like between 225/45 17 and 225/40 18.

If you like it and you feel the price is right; buy it. You're the one who will be living with it.

I dont find the Skoda used car locator that great in the specs it gives.

I notice that some cars on there have Maxi-dot (by the pics of the interior) but doesnt say on the spec, so I emailed all the dealers in Scotland and North England last night.

You know, only 3 emailed back, and 1 called me regarding sourcing a similar vRS to above.

One of them said I could have 5 years interest free (30% deposit) but the car was 18.4k with no extras other than parking sensors and the jumbo pack, had 12,000 miles on it so they had increased the price for the 0%. Nice!

Another was 15.5k, 3000 miles, no extras at all other than Jumbo pack and again offered 3 yrs interest free.

The 3rd emailed just to say they had nothing, which was better than the other 15 or so I emailed that cant be arsed to type a few lines.

The phone call I had from the dealer in Inverness was promising though, they could source (from Skoda direct) a 07 plate estate, Silver, 7k miles, Xenons, curtain airbags, Maxi dot, light assistant, Cruise and rear sensors for 18,800 which may get down to 18300. Thats just too much for me though, damm it!!

They above car isnt on the skoda page if anyone is looking themselves, call Michael at the dealer in Inverness.

So, looks like it will be the original choice. Shame about not having Xenons but not the end of the world, will maybe try the HID upgrade kits, as I can imagine they will be much better in the projector type lens, I know they are strictly speaking illegal but assuming they dont glare then they should be fine. If I though they would glare then it would be a def no no, had them in my current car for a while with standard reflector lenses, brilliant light output but not ideal for cars in front! Halogens back in now.

Me and the missus was looking at the used VRs TDi's we did come across a few but 2 dealers said " I can get you a new one for that"

Hence the 08 plate with...

- free upgrades (duel Zone climate,jumbo box,18's)

- Maxidot

- Front and rear Parking sensors. (the other half really wanted them )

- Xenons - A must have

- Cruise

- Auto Wipers and Lights

- Race Blue

I am sure there is something else? .. all that for £18k, plus our part ex - Audi A3 Sline was a great part px compaired with other dealers inc Audi.

I guessed that I could get a new motor for about 18k especially if pushing Drivethedeal etc in the local dealers face but couldnt really stretch to that amount, and wouldnt be able to wait for delivery. The car Im using from work is going over the next few days and need something quick (pardon the pun) to get the family about. Waiting for a few weeks wasnt really an option. Hope you enjoy!!

Should be getting mine on Fri eve or Sat morning touch wood, deal agreed, deposit paid, finance approved!!

Another defector from Audi

Another defector from Audi

You guessed it, the car is a 56 plate, We have had it 10 months its had.

- 2 Steering racks. :thumbdwn:

- Countless front suspension parts, and I mean everything was changed pretty much...

- While in there care the car has been damaged 3 times.

- Loads of DPF issues (Finally sorted that one )

- We have had to take it back on average every 3 weeks.

So much for a premium car.. :thumbdwn: We had a Seat as well and that never missed a beat in 18k miles, we swapped that for the Audi.

Now we really need a 5Dr if we are having kids, parents are getting older etc..

So it was either another Leon, VRs or A4...

We test drove the 170 S line, and for 20k it was ****ed bald tyres at 12k? road angle in the picture on the website...

The dealer tried to have us over on the part-ex and I politely told him do one. :P

You forgot the free electric rear windows mate - something I believe your car lacks?! :P :D

Thats a great spec for a good price.

Im still shocked she's got rid of her beloved Audi though!

Lee

Your are shocked, I am and she can't wait to get a skoda something I never thought I would hear her say.!!! :o

And yes I do have "keep fit" windows in my 18k car... Typical FORDS !!!

I'm changing my Seat Altea company car this May for a Octavia vRS ('nother baby on the way, need a BIG boot :)) and I'd have to agree they are unbelieveably reliable...Considering they are s'posed to be a 'budget brand' in the VAG mine has done over 100k miles and has never given me a minutes trouble...If it had a bigger boot or if the Altea XL wasn't so ugly I'd be sticking with another one...Glad I'm not though cos I can't wait to get my hands on the vRS
