Felicia Uprated Camshaft?

Featured Replies

i dont mean to sound like a dummy:( but what does this do to your car?

The camshaft's the bit of the engine that opens and closes the inlet/exhaust valves. The uprated ones are supposed to lift the valves up higher, so letting more air in / out and theoritcally boosting power up the rev range

open more for longer.

Are they worth the money then? How much to get it fitted once here?

I think i have one at home somewhere a fast road one, Kent Cams version....

Ill hunt it out.

Not a bad job , but on a 1.3 you will need engine out

Hmm, big money to get it fitted then :(

ooh- once i'm rolling in cash, i'll be interested in one of these

Anyone any ideas how much it would be for postage from CZ and how much to fit? I've already got the induction kit on the engine so should be able to make some use of the cam

  • 5 months later...

you might be able to do it by taking off the left hand mounting and lowering the engine down slightly, i could be wrong though

It's easier to fit a new cam on an OHV engine if you can get the block out, and stood on its end, because you don't have to support the weight of the shaft while feeding it through.

If you are only going to get 5 or 6 bhp out of it , its not worth it. Better of getting rid of some of the weight in the car, so you get a better bhp to weight ratio out of what you have already got

:iagree: or fit a bigger engine :sofahide:

i have seen after market fuel pressure valves that are ment to increase the fuel pressure they make any difference?

not really they dont do an awefull lot to be honest, the standard fuel pressure regulator can be modified to increase the fuel pressure by squeezing it in a vice in the right place but i cant see any reason why you would want to because it would just run rich all the time

HP fuel valves worked on mechanical injection systems that were right on the edge of running lean the whole time until you used full throttle, but even there it was more a fattening up of the part throttle power (drivability) than the peak output from a dyno run.
