anyone tried Neuton tyres?

Featured Replies

I think some of the problem is down to the very much stiffer sidewalls on low profile modern tyres.

I certainly didn't notice any problems on Michelin PE2 tyres, but they use what Michelin call BAZ (Banded at Zero). Has anyone had problems with the Michelin tyres using BAZ?

Also shrky, why did you not go for the Falken 452 again, was there anything you didn't like about them or just cost?

the falkens were my tyre of choice, but at £150 fitted, I thought I'd try these cheaper ones (that claim to be top tyres, not 'budget' tyres...) ..... that price for the falkens was from blackcircles... good website that

edit: just re-read.... the last time I tried the falkens, they were fine... nothing i didn't like about them, good all round tyre :)

well they are deffo a summer tyre, you can tell they originate in a hot country! (malaysia I think?! not sure though)

hot dry weather, they are good... quite a hard tyre, not wearing much so should last well... very stiff construction too, give a nice bite when turning in, dont seem to suffer much flex on the sidewall.

very wet conditions (standing water ect) excellent, they cut the water very well... (I may even describe them as a wet weather tyre!)

inbetween, not so good... half and half greasy stuff they become slippery..... (not much silica in the mix maybe?)

and like my first sentance said, when it gets cold, be very carefull.... temps below 5 celcius (ish) they really go off, below freezing they are like the goodyear F1's, and no good at all

summery.... very good for a cheap tyre, better than the other cheap stuff you can buy (federal 595's ect) but not up to the leading brand makes such as bridgestone potenza, F1's, ect , so still a "budget tyre" ...

So, they is soon coming off ?

Been there, done it with budget tyres, frightened myself silly and then some

Worth that extra few quid for good all-round tyres

But, taa for the heads-up - you brave guy :D

Much appreciate the run down on these tyres sharkrider, they sound pretty scary in the wrong situation.

Think I might try some Uniroyal RainSport 2 225/45 ZR17 91W - any experience with these?

That's really helpful, Cheers anonymouse!

I've always read good things about the rainsports, never tried 'em though..... it rains alot up here in the lakes, so the good wet weather performance of the neutons suits me... but I've always thought about trying the rainsports..... not a bad price either....

to be honest the best tyres I have come accross are the bridgestone potenza RE050A's that were fitted to the GP as OE... and if I could afford them I would buy them...... but at £150 a pop for my car , very expensive... these NT5000's were about £45 a pop... but you always get what you pay for, so as anonymouse says... go for the best you can afford

and anonymouse... brave? nah..... I just like playing with the ESP! lol..... :P

Son has Rainsports on and likes em - but then he's only been driving a year so doesn't really qualify as 'expert' tester etc
