Carbonio CAI Installed

Featured Replies

Feeling brave when I got home from work I decided to have a crack at installing my CAI freshly delivered from Awesome.

After fighting with the engine cover for almost five minutes I managed to finally remove it :)

The intake wasn't a snug fit, and I had to ease it into position with a slight bit of pressure.... once screwed in though it seemed to fit fine and after fighting with the engine cover AGAIN for the best part of ten minutes I got the car back together!

Like the instructions said, I left her idling for ten minutes while I cleared up, before going for a quick spin round the block.

First impressions - aside from a throatier noise when accelerating I can't detect much audible difference - I didn't get the blow-off noise that all the Cabonio vids on youtube seem to get (But I've got a forge Diverter Valve so I don't know if that will make a difference)

The throttle response seems to have improved... tested on the Motorway, and the speedo jumps quickly from 65-75 without any problems or hesitation in sixth gear.

I'll feel a lot better if somebody checked it for me... Mr Fluffmeister if you're free sometime over the weekend can you check it out and help me install for Short Shift Kit too.

Failing that, is anybody else available in the North West that can give me a hand??

Cheers

That's whats making me think I may have not done it right or something... I've got the forge vacuum operated divertor valve in mine... and I don't get the blow-off sound

I'm not going out of my way to draw attention... just wondering why all the ones on the web do it and mine doesn't :P

Remember driving Gibbo's old MK1 vRS with a Carbonio CAI. Wow what a sound :)

The diverter on the TFSi is slightly different and you probably won't get too much of a whoosh noise.

It might have been better to fit the SS before the Bonio as you would have more room. The SS kit is really really easy so you shouldn't be scared to have a go.

Sunday is judgment day ;)

Have you noticed any difference with the Carbonio Stu - aside from the throaty noise?

had my carbonio on about 4 or 5 months now, and aside from looking good, i cant actually say its done that much to sound or performance. I also have a forge adjustable bov which i have on the loudest setting and i do get a nice whoosh sound, but not scooby loud. Like i said, it does look well in the engine bay tho :-)

forgot to say, well done in getting the engine cover off in 5 mins, it took me half an hour! Felt like i was lifting the engine out, and i was **** scared of cracking it. What a PITA it was, but eventually got it done with no probs. Saw your feeler thread regarding selling the car, but I guess your keeping it now then?
