Cisco Pix for Dummies??

Featured Replies

Well since the guy who looked after all the routers/firewall has left I've found myself in the need to "play".

So question is. Anyone know any sites with some guides for a complete novice.

Cheers

Well the Cisco site is a good start :P

Seriously, you'll find IOS command references there which are invaluable, as for the rest I usually Google until I find the answer I'm looking for (We get consultants in for the heavy stuff, but I can normally replicate what they've done before with a few pointers). Still trying to get myself booked onto a CCNA bootcamp.

Cisco Systems, Inc

I myself did this course:

cisco training

It was a really well structured course - I would really suggest you do a course it's better then "Playing" and getting it wrong.

If it's your &rse on the line should anything go wrong I would strongly suggest you get someone in. Or at least getting some proper training (CCNA as mentioned).

Setting up and running a firewall properly isn't really something you can learn on the job unless your network is very very simple.

Or very very good?

Nah, you're right :D

Are you trying to configure it on the command line , or using PDM?

From what you say, the pix is already setup and all you need to do is to make changes when necessary.

I'd be happy to help out. PM me the details is you get stuck.
