Another vRS TDi in the ranks!

Featured Replies

Collected an Ex-demo vRS in Brilliant Silver Hatch on Friday night from Chatems in Fife.

Has just over 5k on the clock, registered in June 07.

Pretty much as soon as I drove it down the slip road onto the A92 Dual carriageway accelerating down the hill from 40 in 3rd to 80 in a matter of a couple of seconds I wanted it!!

Would of ideally liked the Xenons, but not that many around and those seem to be newer cars with a higher price I couldnt really justify. I think the headlights are OK anyway, certainly an improvement on the Navara and the X-trail I had before that. I did retrofit HIDS in both of those but the glare was not too good so eventually went back to halogens, not sure if I will risk it again even though they are projector type lenses in the Octy.

Anyways, has Maxidot, Light Assist, Auto wipers, Rear Park Assist, cruise and the Jumbo pack which is the exact extras I was looking for.

Have ordered the OEM Bluetooth from Stu and awaiting delivery on that, cant wait!

Been to Star Performance this morning and had the revised camber settings done, seemed that the original settings werent as far out as other people report but I wanted to be safe than sorry and have to pay for premature rear tyre wear! Not sure if its me, but seems to drive better now after the alignment?

Not had a hatch for a while now, and never owned anything so quick yet. Im driving a Nissan Navara just now for work that I was using for personal use, so weird driving so low down again!!

Really Really impressed so far, commented to dealers today about a couple of niggles and had a very good reaction from them.

I also noticed that the front wipers arent too good, they are leavinh masses of streaks and lines down the window, I think the blades are cut, I think maybe someone has damaged them using them on an icey screen or similar.

Second is a noise from the rear or underside that I cant remember hearing on the test drive. Sounds like something lose knocking against the car.

They said they will replace the wipers for me FOC but not today (parts dept closed) and send a mechanic out with me to hear the noise,so happy with that.

Trip computer was reading 37.9 when I collected the car, now around 43.5, not sure how accurate this is though!! Better than the 28.5 that I was getting from the Navara!!

Looked at the detailing sites, now I could see me getting into that but way too expensive and time consuming!! Two bucket wash for me I thinks, and just try and keep the swirl marks etc to a minimum.

It's still a very good spec despite the absence of xenons, at least you have the MaxiDot ready for the BT kit.

The wipers do seem to wear out quite quickly. I replaced mine quite a while back and SWMBO's wipers are none too clever after 3000 miles.

Hopefully you won't have too many problems with the dealer sorting the niggles and you had beter start saving up for the Columbus (a.k.a. MFD3 or Trinax) sat nav ;)

Enjoy the car

I know, very tempting, although I will probably just use TomTom for the time being and hope the price comes down (dramatically)
