Maxidot & smokers pack

Featured Replies

Hi just wondering, i know that the regular trip computer (mpg, fuel, avg speed etc) and the maxidot (radio, nav etc) are seperate, so if you purchase the maxidot as and option does it mean that you also get the regular trip comp? or are they both seperate options?

And also, the smokers pack states cigarette lighter. Now is this in an addition to a 12v power socket or are they the same thing? My Mk1 furby has a power socket as standard but no cigarette lighter, is the Mk2 the same?

I have both these options on my Roomster.

Maxidot gives you all the usual trip computer functions (MPG, time driven, average speed e.t.c.) plus radio info, warning messages and it looks much nicer.

The smokers packs is as you say - without it you just get the power socket which if you don't smoke is fine. The smokers pack also comes with a natty little ashtray thingy which sits in the cupholers and is nice for coins.

Both options are worth having IMO.

Well i would have got Maxidot regardless, my dads got it on his octy vrs and i love it, especially being able to programme it. Does this mean that the trip computer is replaced by maxidot? Ive seen on some pictures the maxidot module with another horizontal digital display above it. I probably wouldnt get the smokers pack if the power supply is standard, i dont smoke, just need the power supply for TomTom, phone charger etc. And why would i want a pot for coins? theres no fun if im not chasing them around the glovebox haha.

The LCD Display above the Speedo/Rev counter is for Time, Mileage and Trip

The Maxidot shows you your MPG/Ambient Temp/Distance To Empty/Average Time/Speed E.T.C and as said it also shows you warnings and radio/cd information

Be aware that there are differences between the smokers pack cigarette lighter socket and the standard power socket.

They are slightly different in internal design, the smokers pack socket is not designed to work with other things such as phone chargers etc. (I'm not saying it won't work, but it might not)

Nah ive managed to clarify it now i think, got to a dealers this morning so had a good look around. Theres a 12v supply as standard, so thats all im bothered about, wont be needing the smoking pack. Cheers anyway

The Fabia 2 does not have a nice display in my view. For example there is no 'proper' dial for fuel tank or temperature. If you order Maxidot you get the trip computer with a nicer, more useful display and the dials. Fabia 1 and 2 just have a warning light for temperature and an electronic display for a fuel gauge. (Ordering Maxidot will cost £250).

Fabia 3 has the Maxidot as standard. I may be wrong but I don't think the Maxidot on the Fabia is as powerful as it is in the Octavia.

No you are correct, it doesen't have as many functions as the Maxidot in the Octavia. It's nice to have on the 3, but I wouldn't spec it if I was buying a 1 or 2
