A few questions on a Felicia GLI D

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Am thinking of buying this.

Just wondering, is the steering wheel height adjustable? As this is one of the problems I had with my 1.3LXi with its strange driving position.

What will the MPG be like? I am currently using my Octavia for commuting about 10 miles each way and its doing 29mpg on those runs which is woefully bad.

How reliable are they? And is there anything I should look out for? I already know the pitfalls/problems of the Felicia from my 1.3LXi days. But is there anything specific to the VW Sourced Diesel version?

Cheers in advance.

Craig

I'm afraid the steering wheel height isn't adjustable unfortunately. I have got used to the driving position over the years - though I don't know anything different to Favorits and Felicias.

Cheers Richard.

I spose I can deal with the driving position so long as the fuel economy is good?

Yeah true - the 1.3 was always really good when I had them - as long as you weren't too heavy footed. The 1.6 which I have had more recently, again you don't need to thrash it to make it move, but if you do it drinks the fuel.

Im not sure about the 1.9 - only driven it once when I borrowed one when my car was in the garage. It seemed to do well on fuel, I have driven the fabia 1.9 sdi and tdi, both were good on fuel. Just the sdi is a bit noisy!

Whats your 1.6 Octavia like? I am thinking of upgrading to an Octavia soon - I know I might have to take a dent in the wallet when it comes to fuel economy especially if I end up with a 1.8!

I love it, its huge inside. Great to drive and handles fairly well. If I could afford it though I'd go for an Octavia diesel but they command pretty high prices still.

And yeah I recommend you go for atleast a 100bhp 1.6 or higher, don't touch the 75bhp 1.6, as its not the fastest of engines in such a heavy car, and yup you will feel a dent in fuel economy, I used about £30 per 210 miles!

That looks nice.

My Felicia should do almost 400 miles on a full tank its managing close to 42mpg.

The steering wheel is fixed and not adjustable unfortunately but at least the seat has some adjustment.

Are the mirrors heated? mine has elec mirrors but I'm not to sure if they are heated or not.

SWMBOs Octy Mk1 with the 1.6/100bhp engine has almost as good mileage as my 1.6 Felly. In daily commuting (10 miles each way with a bit of not too dense city traffic) we easliy get 35 mpg. On longer trips it's around 40, if we are very lightfooted it could be 44 or so. 29 mpg doesn't sound good unless it's dense city traffic and a lot of queuing?

When our lass had her felly D, local driving only returned 32-35mpg where as a good run would get about 45mpg

Nope hardly any queueing, and mostly only country roads. And thats with me driving smoothly. I've been told its about normal for the 75bhp 1.6 as it has so little power to pull the car about! Although it varies between 29-31mpg.

On longer runs it'll do 44mpg!

And hmmm the above mpg on the diesel felly doesn't seem that great? My old Pug 306XLD used to do 40mpg, shouldn't the Felly be close or better than that?

Cheers Craig - I think the 75bhp is identical to the Felicia one I have at the mo. Will definitley be going for the 101bhp one, if not a 1.8 / 1.8T.
