It's legal, safe, and supplies the maximum power to the spots, as long as you use adequately heavy wire. Match it to the line fuse from the battery to the relay.

Main thing is to do the wiring so that the spots only work on main beam. And make sure the wires and the fuses are sufficient for the bulbs (if you upgrade above 55W)

ye im gona wire it up to the main beam so that when the high beam goes on dwn the back lanes by mine itl b daylight! lol.

Bulbs over 55w are illegal in the UK (well on anything first registered 1983 or later), but no reason you'd know that.

OTOH you don't have to wire spots so they only come on with the main beams, but you must use a light up switch if you don't.

ye i was thinkin of placin a switch on the dash were there a free space.but for now i think il just hook them up to the main beam. was wanting to get fog lights to but thinkin bout throwin asnother set of spots on, tryin to get the rally look ya see, think that wud b ott? cani seem to find felly fogs anyweres.

Go to a scrappie, and ask if they're got any sports model Citroens or Peugeots in; a lot of them used a standard rectangular Cibie auxilliary for fogs and/or driving lamps.

Could be wise to put in a switch as well, even if you mostly have them "on" in line with the mains. When driving at night in not-to-dense fog the mains might be just right but having the spotlights added will be too much.
