Heater, common problem??

Featured Replies

I've had my Fabia (1.4 mpi 8v) for over a year now. But I think within the last few months the heating has gone all 'weird'..

So here's the deal. I start the car on a cold morning, go around and scrape all the ice off all the windows and it's getting warm inside. All good...

I start moving, and the temp stays the same, as though it's just getting warm...

But when I get properly on the move it cools right down, not to the point of the temperature outside but only just above.

When I stop in traffic it gets properly warm for the first time.

Get on the move again and it cools right down.

So in short, its warm idling in the drive and in traffic but not when it's moving for say 5mins+

Any ideas on this people :S

AND NO I'M NOT CRAZY :P

Possibly the temp sender/thermostat? Is the temperature gauge fluctuating?

Yes it does, not rapidly or anything like that. But and I move more consistently the temp gauge does go down to minimum and as I idle/sit in traffic it rises again to where it should be.

Is this common or an easy fix for someone to do? :P

I would say thermostat stuck open

same to bmw's suffer from it to

I would say thermostat stuck open
