Hi I'm Paulo and earlier today I bought my first Skoda Felicia 1.3 from 2000. Unfortunately I believe I walked into a nightmare. The car itself is in good shape but the motor is making a ticking sound that just doesn't seem right. To make matters worse the previous owner said that it needs oil about every 1000miles, which I assume must be wrong. I totally walked into this naively, my fault! However now I'm stuck with a car I wanted yet not being able to sleep tonight wondering how much it's going to cost me to get it fixed! Help! Any advice on reliable/affordable Skoda mechanics in Berksire?

Welcome.

Wait till later in the day and I am sure someone will be along to help you. Also someone will suggest doing a ‘Search’ using the Search button at the top of the page, so I would give a go while you wait for help.

hello im new too :D "The car itself is in good shape but the motor is making a ticking sound that just doesn't seem right." This to me sounds like it may be tapets but when you say " To make matters worse the previous owner said that it needs oil about every 1000miles" this says to me piston rings with it taking soo much oil.. happened to my fiesta late last year which resulted in it failing the mot on blue smoke at idle (among other stuff) and me buying a new car :thumbdwn: but the best thing to do is to get it checked out..

Hi and welcome!

Could be the time chain rattling, in that case you shouldn't worry too much!

Felicia owners seldom worry :D We have problems now and then, but most often they are easy to fix and not too expensive.

And if you're handy with a spanner the 1.3 engine is said to be easy to work with compared to most others.

Check the Felicia section, search among old threads there! If you cannot find anything helpful, post a question!

Hiya.

As Swedish says, check Skoda Support => Felicia. I suspect that your issues have already been addressed.

Wow, thanks for the warm and useful welcome.

Feeling better about the car today. A couple of friends that are into doing their own maintenance checked out the car and found nothing to worry about.

Next week I'll have it checked out proper. Fingers crossed. I like the 'Felicia owners don't worry'. Super cool to have joined this site.

Thanks again.
