Fast road pads for 312mm brakes

Featured Replies

Hi peeps,

I'm just about to fit a 312mm Audi setup to my vRS but am unsure on what pads to purchase for best results. I have drilled and grooved discs going on so a decent sat of pads is essential! Does anyone have any ideas of what I should be going for?

TIA

Nick

I would say Mintex Extreme but it's seems that they are no longer available which is a damn shame as they were brilliant for £45

Ferodo Ds2500 are supposidly excellent but these cost £130+ a set. Their DS performance pads come in at about £110.

Don't what ever you do waste your money on Red or Green stuff.

I had the FR pads on my 312s, when they were on. :) Good pads but not sure if better than the stock Audi ferrodos you get. Would recommend getting ds2500 if you can afford the £110 a set.

Cheers guys, what's the wear like on the ds pads? I'd ideally like to spend less but unsure what to look for. My kit is cobbled together from a few different people so all I have is golf calipers, audi carriers and some tasty discs, I don't have the standard audi pads or I'd just fit them just to get them on there!

Carbotech pads are some of the best available.

i'm running DS2500 on my 312s , pad wear is very good , and the pedal is good even with just normal road use

The ones that came with the kit seem more than adequate to me! :)

i agree the standard ones are ok for normal road use , but i completely mullered mine at Spa last year, hence DS2500 now

Pagid Blues are very good and not overly expensive.

Hmmm, well the Ferodos seem most interesting so far... I should have mentioned that I do use the car on track days so standard pads aren't really an option long term... Are the Pagids any good? I had some on my old G40 at one point and they were very dusty. G40's aren't a good example of brake quality though as the brakes are nowhere near powerful enough!

ds2500 are a good pad for ladies... (only joking)

for track real men use ds3000 but they wreck your rims and squeal like you are having your rim wrecked......

Pagids work fine on my Octy and have done me well at several trackdays. I use the brakes a lot..................:o:O:O

Mintex 1144's absolutely amazing pads ;)
