tow bar wiring

Featured Replies

i am fitting a tow bar to my 1999 1.6 Octavia, is it o.k. to wire it up using scotchlocks into wiring loom as i have in the past on other cars or by doing so am i going to do any damage to loom etc

I've got mine fitted with Scotch Locks (2001 TDi) and it works fine, so don't see why you'd have an issue.

Should be fine ...one thing to watch for is the the diameter of the wire is quite small, so make sure you get the right size to get a decent connection

i just used a plug in loom yesterday and it was so easy i wouldnt bother with scothlocks again. looks factory fit and took 5mins to install.

I used scotchlocks on my 2001 TDi no problems at that end! The snag I had was the pre-wired socket had one wire loose in it, and two wired backwards. Guess these sweatshops are not too good at assembling things properly. Had me well confused as I could not work out why I had a flashing right brake light, no fog light and an indicator that came on when I braked (this was all in the garage - it never made it to the road like that!)
