Rear Washer - Leaking at reservoir

Featured Replies

I know a broken rear washer has been covered loads of times, but I can't seem to find anything in the search that mentions it leaking from around the reservoir.

When it was freezing at the weekend I foolishly tried to use the rear washer before anything had warmed up. It didn't work. So i tried it 10mins later and it produced a bit of a dribble. Now it's stopped working all together, and I need it.

I have to fix it tomorrow morning before a very long drive. Please help! :(

All I am left with is a huge pool of water under my offside front wing, and on inspection water around the bottom of the reservoir that has obviously been spraying out from somewhere.

Has anyone had this before?

I'm hoping it's just a hose popped off, and not a split hose. Is it a quick job to pull out the reservoir for a look?

Thanks.

You will need to pull the arch liner back and wedge it with a piece of wood to get at it.

I have to do that just to remove the reservoir? Sounds like a pain in the butt!

Is there a bolt under there or something??

Found the leak!

Short section of hose (about 6inches) coming off the front/rear diverter valve dissapears behind the reservoir, under the charcoal filter.

Gently pulled the hose and there's nothing on the end of it!!!

Need to find a child with small hands to poke around in the small gap and retrieve the other end now!

Oh and with reference to the above about having to pull the arch liner down to remove the reservoir....

According to my Haynes manual you can do it without doing this. Says to move the charcoal filter to one side then you can remove those plastic nuts from within the engine bay and whip it all out with minimum hassle.

I'll have a look tomorrow to confirm this in my hunt for the hose.

Cheers.

Sorry about that i must have been thinking of the Fabia.

ok found the hose under the bonet and snapped it back together. easy. i thought......

driving to leeds and went to wet the rear window today. no water, just a 'pop' as the hose popped off somewhere in the hatch! arg. guess the jets must be blocked...

anyway, how the hell to you get the trim of the rear hatch?! there are no screws or anything. the leak is definately in there now.
