Creaky suspension - GONE?!?!?

Featured Replies

Apologies if this has been raised before (I did do a search!), but I'd started to think the suspension bushes on my Fabia vRS were on the way out recently, with creaks and groans over bumps and potholes. :(

Was a bit miffed, as they'd been given a clean bill of health only four or five months and 5k miles ago, but the car's done 60k and is 3.5 years old, so judging by some other users' experiences, they'd had a pretty good innings.

But all of a sudden, the weather's been warmer and wetter than of late and the suspension's returned to being (almost) as quiet as a mouse? Could it really be that the bushes had got a bit stiff and dry in the cold, dry weather? If so, would it be worth trying to get some silicone grease on them? (Although presumably that would involve stripping things down in which case I might as well put some Cupra ones in or something...)

Anyway, just wondered if anyone else had experienced the same during the recent cold snap?

Yup, although only at the rear. The fronts have been spot on since the Cupra bushes went on. The cold salty conditions don't help things at all.

Yep, my rears used to creak like a biatch over speed bumps if it was a damp day. Disappears as soon as the weather dries out, your's sounds 'normal' to me.

Gotta admit though, my fronts were noisy too when braking and going over bumps. This was on the stupid standard voided bushes....they creaked when it was dry, hot, cold, wet.....you name it. Awesome said they didn't look bad when they removed them so it just goes to show that they can be visually fine but still be feeble. Cupra bushes are the daddy. ;)

Yeh mine are creaking like mad at the moment. Any ideas on how much do they usually cost to fix/replace?

Front or rear?

I think its the front passenger side....

Cupra bushes will fix that. A search will bring up loads of data for you on prices etc.

Cheers m8!

when mine had gone, they stopped being noisey in the wet weather, and it all came back in the dry!

Mine is creaking like a bugger aswell so im going to use my pressure washer to clean underneath then see if i can grease somehow..

That helped mine (the rears) but only for a while. Soon came back as the roads were being gritted a lot though around that time.

To fix the fronts it took new bushes, nice Cupra ones.

Saying this...i think my rear bushers are going :(...anyone out there had new ones fitted by dealer? if so how much will i be spending as an estimate?
