Glovebox rattle

Featured Replies

Beginning to get on my tits!

I think its the lock/handle that's rattling, as if i push on the handle while driving it seems to go away a bit.

Anyone got any cunning fixes up theyre sleeves?!

mine does that don't know why

Me too, mines not the lock though I don't think.

It seems to of started when I took the glovebox out to get the power cable through.

Really annoys me, I might get my buddie to investigate whilst I drive soon. I would ask SWMBO but she think's i'm "ANAL" when it comes to it.

:thumbdwn:

The box "hangs" at each side in a hole/put, put some soft stuff (thin rubber, local hardware shop) in it and it should be gone.

The sound in my opinion starts from the hangingpoints.

Greets, Snoetje

Mine only does it when it's cold, it seems to be the mbottom mounting points where the torx screws hold it in place, but iI can't seem to figure out why it does it, or how to fix it.

I think this is what Snoetje is about as well???

Yepp, mountingpoints are the only thing that is rests on. (as far as my knowledge goes)

Mine does it too, I think its the catch/latch things on either side. Open the glove box and kinda shake it a bit and they rattle, now hold one and rattle the door with the other hand and its a bit better, well on mine anyway.

I have to get round to looking at it and try a fix.

Hi,

I had the same problem after buying my VRS, solved it by doing the following:

Bought 2 black interior light plunger type switches (motor factors), the ones you can shorten the plunger length by cutting it down.

Remove the connector tags from the new switches.

Remove the 2 rubber cones that get compressed, where they were put a piece of bluetack and close the g/box door, it gets compressed so when you open door you can see the gap that exists when the door is shut.

Cut the plunger down to the indicated gap +5mm

Measure the body diameter of the new plunger assy and drill out the 2 old holes to the diameter of the body (about 10mm), carefully press the new plungers in either side of the glovebox in the old rubber cone positions.

As they are sprung internally there is always a force trying to push the glovebox door open so that the lock mechanism is held and cant flap about.

Hope this helps
