Just bought a Fabia but...

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

Went and test drove a Fabia TDi today and fell in love with it :D . So I've ordered one and should hopefully get it next week.

But when I got home I noticed from the Skoda price list I could have an "SE Pack" consisting of A/C and 14" alloys 'FOC' - free of charge? (It's a Comfort Estate I'm getting). But the salesman added

Hi Robert - welcome to Briskoda :)

Might be worth giving them a ring, regardless of what you've signed. If nothing else they should be able to put your mind at rest...

Welcome to Briskoda.

Should give the dealer a ring and ask him about this SE pack.

Indeed. You can allways refuse the car anyhow.

Hey guys thanks for the quick advice!

I have a printed pricelist that I got direct from Skoda a few weeks ago. The options are listed with the same prices as on the web site, but then at the bottom is an extra line:

SE Pack (air conditioning & 14" alloys) (Classic/comfort only) FOC

This I do not understand as the Elegance comes with air conditioning and 14" alloys as standard, therefore they are only options on the Classic and Comfort anyway. Don't understand why they are charging you for these seperately but apparently offering them for free when taken together. Makes no sense at all!

Think I will metnion it to the garage when they call me next week to give me a delivery date.

Not terribly bothered as it's a cheap car for what you get anyway, but that

You'll enjoy the TDi, Fabia it is a fabulous car, and able to keep up the pace. Not sure about the SE pack, seems a bit strange that those would be offered FOC, maybe it was a limited offer? Also notice the elegance now comes with automatic air conditioning, is this climate control?

Had fun with the demonstrator - like I say it felt like my Escort had summat wrong with it afterwards!

I think it may well have been a limited offer, price list I have was printed in March. I think the auto air conditioning is indeed climate control. The Comfort air con is manual control, although it seemed perfectly OK when I had a play with it today. Went smoothly and quickly from chilly to hot and back again.

My mates are taking the **** "You're 24 you should be getting a hot hatch not a diesel Skoda." They're gonna be pretty surprised when I take them for a spin I think! ;)

Thanks! Just hope the one I drive away is as fun to drive as the one I test-drove. I'm always a bit suspicious they soup 'em up a bit

As for the Elegance, I suppose I could have done. TBH it all happened a bit quick. I just walked in and told the guy exactly what I wanted and that was pretty much that.

As long as your are happy with deal you got, then that's all that matters.

We all have different needs out of our car's.

Im thinking of going down the estate route myself, so when you pick it up let us know how you get on

Welcome! Once it loosens up get it to jabba!

Will do! Got a call from the garage today - they've found one at another dealer I can have without needing to wait for one from the factory. Should have it in 10 working days!

I have never understood why it takes so long to get a new car - I imagined they just put it on a truck and drive it to where it's needed. How can that take more than a day or so?! Anyway, as far as cars go, 10 days is quick so I'm well happy!

With all the possible combinations of colour , spec and extras , the factory make an estimate of their sales and build cars accordingly. When a customer wants to purchase one the dealers have the choice of looking at the vehicles that have been made and imported to a storage yard near the port and finding one that matches the requirements , or requesting that one be made specially to order.

If you are flexible about colours and extras then you will get a car much quicker (and probably a better price) than if your vehicle has to be requested specially for you

Yup, that's what I did.

"What coloiur would you like?"

"Anything except white, yellow or red"

Apparently it's coming from another dealer, but is "New and hasn't been sat in a showroom for ages", so I guess it must be a dealers stock that is still in storage. Or something :)
