hi all i have noticed that sometimes when i start my mk1 octy vrs it smells like someone has just thrown 500 fag butts in the car. :eek: it comes through the vents but runs and drives perfectly and uses no fluids at all and has never been smoked in. any ideas cheers

The cause is a bacteria buildup in the A/C system, you can buy an A/C disinfectant from halfords that will neutralise the bacteria.

fag end down a vent at some time in its life lol, lots of crap can get down the vent at the top of the dash, dont know what u could do, could try an aircon clean, a gas that is just a sorta air freshener that runs through the vents while the blowers are on full, most dealers sell this service for round 30quid

Also check the air filter for the cabin.

Yes I agree,check the pollen filter,and the a/c cleaner from halfrauds works a treat have used it SWMBO Corsa.

Mine sometimes gives off a musty smell on startup occasionally, but not fags thank god.
