Potential Octy driver

Featured Replies

Hi ! ! !

My mom and I are interested in buying an Octavia. We made the deal that we are going to buy Octy Elegance 1.6MPI liftback with some extras . . .

My guestions are :

1) Does HHC ( Hill-Hold-Control ) work ?

2) Are front and rear heated seats worth the money ?

3) Are Headlight washers any good ?

4) Is the TPM a pain in the a*s like some people said ?

5) Heated windscreen washers - do they work or not ?

And finally, whitch colour to choose : Sattin gray, Black Magic or Cappuccino beige ?

1) Yes it works really well on mine

2) Yes to the fronts - I wouldn't be without them, don't have rear heated seats but they should be the same as the fronts.

3) Yes in the winter for salty roads but not much good at shifting bugs in the summer.

4) It can be a bit temperamental but my TPM was mostly fine on my old Octy II. It doesn't 'read' the tyre pressure but looks at the ABS sensors and does a little bit of maths to work things out.

5) I don't have them as they aren't a UK option AFAIK but I would imagine they are very useful - go for them.

Oh, and Welcome to Briskoda

Thanks for the fast replay and for the welcoming part:)

Btw, sorry for my English ( I'm not sure if I misspelled something ) . . .

No problems with your English from where I'm sitting

As for colour, that's a tough one.

Black magic looks nice when clean but gets dirty so easily and looks rubbish for it, I find it shows scratches up really easily.

Cappuccino isn't my cup of tea (see what I did there?:rofl:)

Satin grey will look cleaner for longer which is a bonus.

Have you seen all three colours on real cars in broad daylight? that's the only way to compare them in my opinion.

Ww went to the dealer yesterday . . .

We saw every colour except the red one.

Oh, I forgotten something . . .

1) what about cornering headlamps

2) and what about light assist ??

There are a few different methods of cornering headlamps where some move the lights with bends in the roads (a la Citroen DS) and some light up one fog light when turning to improve vision on that part of the road. I believe the Octavia uses the fog light system. Either way, we don't get them here for the time being.

Light assist is a sensor in the windscreen that turns the lights on and off automatically.

It also puts the lights on when the wipers are used for a certain period and when the car has been travelling above a certain speed (might be around 150-160km/h) for about 10 seconds (Autobahn mode).

The lights can of course be used manually if desired.
