Are bulb upgrades worth it?

just noticed this thread, we were discussing the life of these bulbs on another

Im off the osrams for the mo, just to see how long the xtremes last.

actually unless i go on ebay for the x-tremes, the osrams are pretty cheap through powerbulbs as evryones said (the xtremes are about 29 quid), hmmmm decisions, decisions...
