Felicia Fun Rust

Featured Replies

Hello, I am asking for advice on how to repair my Fun. There is rust on the passenger side wheel arch (inside the pick up) I am worried it may fail an mot. It is not at the top more around the centre if that is any help. Any advice gratefully received.

Grind out the rusty area, it is double skinned, then let in new metal, weld and grind flush, paint

make sure that you clean inside the wheel arch and protect it

iv got to do the same to mine this year, blagged it last year for mot by covering it with yellow sticky tape

Thanks rigsby :-)

I presume you mean in the bed (rear arch)?

If so, I think it's non-structural and not exposed to the exterior, so isn't a fail anyway. You've already got a "how to".

It would be a fail if there was a "sharp edge", which I assume basically means if there is a hole not covered it can fail. So tape would get it through the MOT :)

is it with in 12" of the top suspension mount this could fail if it is hold.

The part that rusts ont he rear arch is the strut top support so a fail for certain.

:)It's definately a fail if rotten, luckily though [unlike the hatchback/estates] it's only a shock absorber mount. The pick up/Fun doesn't have MacPherson struts on the back.

Ok guys. I'd say that's still bad design then, even if it allows (near) vertical dampers. Yes, I'd expected dampers mounts to pick up on the chassis, not the bed.
