Pioneer or Alpine speakers?

Featured Replies

Hi

I need to replace the front speakers in my Fab 02. Set my mind on either of these 2:

Pioneer TS 1785

TS-1785 Pioneer Custom-Fit Speakers - Car*Entertainment

Alpine SPE-17CS

Car Audio Direct - Alpine SPE-17CS - Speakers

I was looking for opinions on which would be better.

If Someone thinks that I might have trouble with the fit because of the depth or where to put the crossover connector box then please let me know.

Thanks

I've had the pioneers and they are good speakers, but at £49.99 the alpines with proper crossovers seem a bit of a bargain.

Are they both shallow enough for the front door?

I'll put that down as one vote for the Alpine. And note that the Pioneer will fit if I go for them.

I'm not sure about the depth as the Alpine website doesn't list that. I've e-mailed them to check and I'm waiting on a reply. I was hoping that someone reading this might be able to say that they would fit OK.

I have not used either in the skoda, but in other cars.

Pioneer for me. Alpine speakers let me down. I have had several cars and always fitted pioneers, but my Arosa was different, and I went for Alpines. The cone came away from the plastic surround and both speakers were wrecked. Never happened on any of my pioneer or infinity sets.

Vote tally

Pioneer 1

Alpine 1

Alpine customer service replied quickly. 61mm deep so they'll fit with an insert.

alpine for me to

So that's 2 votes for the Alpine and 1 for the Pioneer.
