Skoda Felicia Issues

Featured Replies

Yes, there are more issues...

Headlight Adjusters

These don't work. I've read info on here and looks promising, but I would like it to work properly.

Crunch when going into 2nd gear at 30+ MPH

When going for a bit of a RAG, getting to 30MPH in 1st, then going for 2nd, it crunches... Changing down from high speed, say 35-40mph into second, it crunches...

Front Fog light glass broken

The glass is out, I've taken the surround out and the screws are rusted... So, they just rounded off. How do I fix this?

Wheel wobble at 60-70MPH

This is ****ing me off, it doesn't happen at 75, 80, 90, 100 but between 60 and 70 - The only speeds I seem to go on the M11...!!!

When reversing on full Lock...

There is a rub from one of the wheel arches... I can feel it through the steering wheel and I want to change it ASAP as I don't like it...

Flat Spots

Sometimes, for no reason, the car will have NO power... Foot welded to the floor in 2nd gear, the car slows down.... 60MPH in 5th and there's no acceleration at full throttle either!!

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated

:D

is either worn Synchro/box low on oil, or, if you drive anything like me its because 2nd gear is really just a brake on the way back down the box!

Wheel wobble, wheelarch rubbing noises......please check those front shock absorber/lower spring mounts URGENTLY! Might not be that, but check anyway!

Headlight adjuster - these always fail as the hydraulic liquid tends to leak out. The whole unit has to be replaced to get the adjusters to work - probably not worth the hassle or cost.

Front fog light - Best approach might be to try drill the screws out - or if you can get at the head try grab it with a mole grip.

Wheel wobble - one thing to check is front tyre pressures

Flat spots - perhaps valve clearances need adjustment?

The wheel wobble stops at higher speeds... So tyre pressures and balancing was what I was thinking

I'll take a look...

I don't think it is... It's more like the wheel is... Oh I don't know... INTERMITTENTLY every rotation rubbing against something

To see if it is the wheels, you can change the fronts with the back and see if it goes away.

I'd definately say the 'Wheel wobble at 60-70MPH' is a wheel balance issue, strangely this is the range of speed when imbalanced wheels start to vibrate, speeds at either side of this don't cause any problems.

If you can feel the steering wheel vibrate, the front wheels will want balancing but if you can feel the vibration though the seat of your pants it will be the rear wheels, or a case of too many beans :D

Have you got standard Skoda wheels fitted?

I've got Skoda Alloys on there...

The star ones in my owners diary

Hello,

I had Skoda Alloys fitted to my first R reg 1.6Glxi and the same type fitted on my current W reg Glxi.

I have to use stick on balance weights on the inside of the front alloys if needed. The use of clip on weights is ok on the outside but not on the inside.

I believe the same may be true of the Fun pickup alloys?..according to my local tyre agent.

The clip on balance weights can foul the very square shoulders of the track rod ends when reversing at full lock over some cambers for instance into a driveway.

I first came across this only a couple of days into R reg Felicia ownership...there was a clunk when reversing into our driveway...then on my first trip down a dual carriageway up to speed the shake from the front was noticable...I returned to my then local dealer a bit non fussed...it seems it had either removed or moved the clip on weight...but once the problem was realised and stick on weights used..all was ok.

edited to add photo..of the the Felicia line up at my work..mine is the one on the far right.:)

Excellent!!!

Turns out the wheels were balanced by the cowboys that sold it to me!!!

I'll nip down to Kwik Fit and see what happens!

If it is this easy to fix, I'll be well happy.

Nice to see you're Felicia's at work... There are 6 of us in college that have Felly's and we all park together... Mine is the worse of the lot!

:D
