Now then all, after snapping a front spring of my occy vrs i expected finding replacement stock no probs, how wrong i was £70 EACH from skoda and absolutely non from the motor factors full stop! If youve had front springs fitted from quick **** i gaurantee they'll be for the 4x4 1.8t, the wrong fitting, they must be only for the vrs/rs, beware. After lots of trawlin the net ang gettin well peed off at the non availability of standard stock springs, wot a piggin nightmare i then started to consider changing all four springs, again an absolute nightmare, the truth is that there are only 3 x manufactureres, apex (larkspeed.com - Apex Lowering Sports Spring Kit for Skoda Octavia RS Saloon/Estate) @£86 + pp , cobra (Cobra / Lowering Springs / Skoda Octavia Rs 1,8T (132 Kw) Saloon Chassis:(1U) From: 2001>04 / Euro Performance Car Parts)@ £99 + £15pp, or h&r (cheapest is Sport Performance Springs for Skoda Octavia RS Lim/ Sedan + Komb [hr-LS-11322] - £155.40 : Speed Sport UK - Performance, Styling and Replacement Car Parts Online @ £155 with foc postage, or the above Europerfomance at about an exta quid!). After ringing around a few good mechanics the going price was aropund £120 all in for fitting four springs Has any body had any experience of the springs, if so pls detail, i hope the above info was useful, could have done with it, so ere we go!!! L8rs all.

Just had the cobra springs fitted, looks amazin and feels like a completely different car to drive, feels still comfy at low speeds and over potholes go round a corner or brake hard and its really stiff!!!! Very heavily recommended!!! Willpost pics when taken.

ill be fitting apex springs to my new vrs as i work for euro carparts and we stock them,so with my staff discount will cost me around £35 :)

i have also fitted the same springs to other cars and they are really quite good

Would be interested to see how the car looks if you can post some pics please. :)

Just out of interest, how much lower is a Mk1 vRS over a standard Mk1 Octy ?

Isnt it like 20mm?

I aint got a clue ! :o

Would be interested to see how the car looks if you can post some pics please. :)

pick the car up sat day so hopefully it will be lowered over easter then ill post some before and after pics

Hi, I've got Weitec springs fitted that I bought from Awesome. They lowered the car about 25mm.

The only thing I noticed with fitting firmer uprated springs with the standard shocks, is that the suspension felt underdamped. The car bounced about like a yo-yo especially the rear.

I sorted the rear by fitting Koni Adjustable shocks, which has made it so much better. The front shocks will get changed when funds become available.

Just bin lookin at the cobra springs, sound ok for the price.

Got any pics yet Vin ????

Would just add that Speed Sport UK may not be trading anymore. I ordered a set of H&R Springs from them, two weeks passed and nothing - in that time I continually emailed and phoned for advice on expected delivery with not one response.

I had paid by paypal so raised a dispute, SpeedSportUK never responded - so Paypal ended up refunding me.

Just for your info.
