Felicia 1.9d Pick-up - leaking Thermostat/cooling system

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Can you please help me identify my problem.

I am loosing water/coolant from the Thermostat housing; i.e. where the pipes connect to the front of the engine.

There are two 6mm bolts fastening the Thermostat housing to the engine and coolant/water appears to be leaking from the top of these bolts.

My guess is that inside this housing - a rubber seal/gasket needs replacing! (But I know nothing!).

If anyone can advise what the problem could be - I'd be made up.

Also, are there any diagrams of this on the web or someone could email me so I can be certain of whats going on?

I need the vehicle every day, as I have no backup!

Regards

Daz

Hi and welcome to Briskoda

You can buy the thermostat with the housing and sensor all in one. This is the best option I would say - and you probably need a gasket for the bit that mates with the cylinder head.

Good guess Daz, and I'd agree that you may as well replace the stat block when it's off anyway.
