Love my car at times.

YouTube - 260bhp Skoda Fabia, yet 80mpg! WHAT!?

Funnily enough, the moment I accelerated fairly hard to rejoin the traffic running alongside the layby, it didn't stay this high for long.

Also, I don't carry my camcorder all the time for random moments like this. :o It just happened to have been left in the glovebox from some social a couple of weekends ago.

Pretty amazing that, don't think swmbo would let me do that much modding though.

Madness!!! I dont even get 80mpg when driving well in a standard car!! :( Hats off to you Jason though

The best I can manage on a run is 60 mpg in SWMBO's car :)

Trouble is, my economy "on a run" is actually pretty bad as the economy doing 70mph is around 55mpg with propane on. Yet it seems pootling around on the level flat at around 40mph, using mixture of 4th & 5th gear depending on inclines, etc, produces in excess of 70mpg, with 80 being even better than I would expect. I think it;s becayse my hybrid is 100% off-boost doing that kind of driving, whereas it's boosting a little bit to keep it at 70mph.

That's terrible, I can get 99.9MPG with the Red Devil.;)

:P

Well as a follow up to this thread, I did even better coming home this morning (left work early to make early start on the M5) and got this.

MPG, then miles done, then range to go + miles done on this tank. :)

nice mpg mate, wish I could get that all I seem to get is 46mpg at the moment!

What speed were you driving at?

Wah the road straitght (meaning not downhill), were you driving with constant speed without accelerating?

Did you have wind in your back maybe?

Because 80mpg is practically impossible in real life...

Bear in mind it is consuming LPG as fuel as well, so that figure only shows diesel MPG as such ;)

Still, very good

I got 64mph on my way home from work today because I was stuck in some 40/50mph traffic. On my way into work at 0530 I tend to only get 44mpg, mostly because I am running late and the roads are quite empty.

Yeah - speed was on average around 40mph in the countryside, occasional 50mph, but the main thing was having a good run of green traffic lights whilst in the outskirts of town. :)

A knowledge of how to drive my car economically too. :) Big turbo means it's off boost a lot (like Des' monster :D) and even then the propane is not injecting off-boost so that's true diesel economy - It's only when going up to half a bar or so that propane is "swaying" what the car is telling me. I use about £14 worth of propane every 600 to 700 miles, so this kind of needs factoring in.

The car never reset from its 84mpg before I set off for the Midlands, but it was still readking 68mpg after a 230 mile journey of 75mph/80mph on the M5 and a fairly leisurely jaunt on the A46/M69 to get where I am now.

Awesome!

That's terrible, I can get 99.9MPG with the Red Devil.;)

You decimal is in the wrong place.

Shouldn't that read 9.99.......

i regularly get 75's on the way to work, thats 15miles motorways 5miles town driving, cruise set to 50 on the motorway, thats a 110tdi octy, economy has got better since the 18"alloys have gone on
