Can anybody confirm the standard warranty period for a 2006/06 Octavia 2.0 diesel please?

I thought it was three years - the handbook says its two years, unlimited mileage, but a loose card in the literature pack says that Skoda UK provides the third year of warranty or 60k miles - is this correct?

Quoting the latest Octavia brochure:

3 year / 60,000 Mile Warranty

ŠkodaAuto are pleased to provide a two year

unlimited mileage warranty. In addition, ŠkodaAuto

UK provides a further warranty on new vehicles

supplied by them through their appointed retailer

network which is valid until the vehicle has

completed 60,000 miles or the end of the third year,

whichever is the sooner.

Your Octavia also benefits from a 3 year paint and a

10 year Anti-Perforation warranty. We recommend

that the car is serviced and maintained at an

authorised Škoda retailer or repairer to ensure the

warranty cover is maintained. Ask your Škoda retailer

for full details of this warranty

This is why you only get two years on imports from car supermarkets.

The warranty is fully transferrable - bought my 06 Octavia in July 07 - all of the remaining 23months of the 3yrs was transferred.

Not quite correct. As stated it is 2 years unlimited mileage so if it is at 80000 miles and 23 months old it still has a months warranty, if it is 25 months old and is at 60001 miles it has no warranty. The 2 years unlimited mileage is provided by the factory and the third year upto 60000 miles is provided by the UK importer.
