Sticky rear brakes

Featured Replies

Has anyone else had the problem with the rear brakes ? (as the dealership call it)

after looking at my rear brakes for the third time in 3 months they nowtell me that there is a modified damping canaster thing they put on the caliper to stop this from happening. But because it was never done when it was with its first owner i will have to pay for the modification to my car even tho i have a used warrenty and it is a defect with the car!

What do i do ? PLEASE NEED HELP!

hi there mate firstly thanks for the heads up cos i can tell the dealer about it this weekend. i have the exact same problem and it is so so annoying mate and sounds ******* aweful!!! my ****ty local dealer said there was absolutely nothing wrong with them and there is dirt on the discs??? they charged me 59 for cleaning the front and rear and nothing changed but would not refund my money. it is a common problem it would appear on the vrs and i am sick of it mate. it is discusting that you are being told to pay again and i would fight it all the way mate. my opinion is the garages have been told about this problem and they being told to fob customers off!!! i am going to a very good dealer at the weekend in sheffield (where i got the bloody car from in the first place lol) and i shall tell them about this modification so thanks again. good luck pal :)

yea i no how u feel mate the only reason im goin to this garage is because it where i brought mine from. But they also had the same problem on the octy vrs and had to re-design the rear pads!

gd luck pal just dnt let them pass the buck on to someone else!

hi everyone i am taking my car in tomorrow is the official part called the modified damping canister or something else want to go in and impress them tomorrow and let them know i know what the problem is so not to be fobbed off many thanks :)

Sounds like what I had done on my car to stop the rears being noisy after I'd had new pads and discs put on. The invoice doesn't actually say what was done, but I had a look at the calipers when I picked the car up, and there were new brass-coloured cylinders on each. I don't know why they were OK with the OEM discs and pads - maybe that's why they won't replace them as a matter of course, because the problem doesn't affect everybody...???

cheers mate for the info. i think it is something that want to keep quiet and not do under warranty cos i asked gordon lambs at chesterfield several times and they said there is absolutely no fix for this produce through skoda...liars!!! :)

btt

Hi,

can I just ask... Do you guys get this problem forwards and backwards?

I get a horrific squeal when reversing and breaking.. heard of it from so many different people on so many different VAG models that just except my car sound broken when i reverse.
