Door open dash light

Featured Replies

Hi, the door open light on the dashboard on my octy decides to go on and off is she pleases, the interior light comes on as well so i have had to turn that off, and when i get out of the car and lock it the alarm goes crazy about every 5 minutes because it thinks a door is open. If i could just find out where the sensors are im sure i could sort it, all the doors are closed properly so if someone could just tell me where sensors are maybe please, 1.9SDI classic 2002. Thanks

sounds like a door sensor which id imagine will be around the door shuts.

I know but i have tried checking them all and slamming the doors properly and even fiddled with the childlock things in the back but the alarm still goes off. Now i have to lock the drivers door and get out one of the back doors so that all the doors are locked but the alarm isn't set, very annoying! Thanks though.

have you taken the switches out and looked at them?

switches?

the push button bits for the doors. maybe wet or something lodged in the gap (unlikely but worth checking)

I havent really checked anything, not sure how either, how would i check the switches?

id just unscrew them and pull them out and look at them and push the switch and see if theres anything connecting that shouldnt be there fairly simple.

otherwise it might be worth checking the car with a vag com and checking the central convienience unit.

I'll try that, thanks a lot.

I was looking at the manual for my Octavia because my passenger door switch is not working. For some reason Scoda seem to have made a hash of this. It is not a simple push switch in the door frame, it is part of the locking mechanism located inside of the door. On most cars it is a nightmare to remove the door locks, I hope Scoda have thought this out for the Octavia.
