dust removal

Featured Replies

is there anything i can use to attract dust in the car as doesnt matter how often i clean the inside it starts to float around inside, really noticed it in past few weeks with it being so cold and dry.

Dust mites?

Wonder if a good vacuum and pollen filter change would help?

Hmm... Does running the air conditioning permanently make a difference (being my favourite option)? If not, maybe time to get it overhauled? I know people have recommended products available from Halfords, but can't remember the names or what they are actually meant to do though. Doh, sorry.

If you are using an antistatic cleaner on the vinyl bits, perhaps don't, so that the dust settles instead and can then wipe it off with a damp cloth.

I haven't tried this in my car, but if you get an old pair of tights from the Missus that are washed without fabric conditioner, nylons are excellent for attracting dust, so could perhaps cover a little cushion (or some newspaper I guess) with the nylon and see what collects on it?

Not sure how you've got your vents set - wonder if that might make a difference, to stop dust circulating? I know dust can be a problem, especially with asthmatics at pollen time, so perhaps just close off the outside air, so keep on the setting to recirculate interior air?

With mattresses, they reckon that a steam cleaning at a high temperature will kill off any mites and if done professionally, it should also suck out any embedded dust (or most of it), so a clean start might help, if funds allow.

All I can think of for now.

its not dust mites, its bits of static dust floating in the air days after its been given a good vacumm and antistatic clean inside.

Hi again. It's no good - one of us is losing the plot. Antistatics stop dust from settling so keep it in the air until it's allowed to collect on something or be extracted somehow. *Mo goes back to knitting* as useless at techie things.

Ken dod static tickling sticks.

The dust sticks to the nylon fibres then you can shake it outside.
