Couple of newbie Qs

Featured Replies

Hi guys, im in the market for a MK II Octy VRS

looking at getting the 2.0T FSI engine, and had a couple of questions

1) Remaps. How many remappers are out there for this engine ? Ive found jabba, and seen their website, but some of the posts on here mention revo. Only revo i can find is revo technik in Australia. Who else does remaps for this engine in the UK and who should i be going 2

2) Once its remapped, BHP is supposedly 250+ according to jaba. Will this effect 0-60 times much. I saw another thread on here saying a rempa wont get your 0-60 below 7 seconds. But a mondeo ST220 with 220bhp and less tourque can manage in in that. And surely a 25 % increase in bhp has to be able to decrese 0-60 by half a second ?

3) Styling. I quite fancy doing the odd subtle mod or two. Ive heard of filotech grills and such like, but cant find a website for them. Anybody got any recommendations ?

1) The 2.0T engine has been about for a while - there are plenty of options for remaps - just do a search (Superchips/Revo/APR/Morego etc)

2) You won't get 250+, more like 235bhp. This will of course give a slightly better 0 - 60 but frankly this is a meaningless measure of performance. The remap will give a huge amount of torque hence better in gear acceleration.

3) I think you may mean Milotec. Try searching for this instead.

There is a huge amount of information in these forums which a search will answer your questions.

Nearly all the remaps available for the 2.0TFSI claim to give gains in excess of 50bhp which to date we have yet to see from ANY of them, more realistic is a gain of 35bhp but a healthy increase in torque which is the key to 'kick in the back' acceleration. Dont be too concerned with 0-60 times as it will be the in gear acceleration that impresses most ;)

If styling is your thing then this site will interest you

You'll save more on a 0-60 time by method rather than a bit more power. The TCS won't ever let you do a half decent standing start anyway.

Specially' if you have a nice 'extra' torquey diesel....;)

Chris

Not really ;)

350ft/lb is pretty torquey!

Running std clutch?

so they claim 250-260bhp but you wont sever see it ?

nice to bear that in mind

Also, would a CAI, stainless exhaust / boost controller etc.. help with the BHP increases ?

Is there any thoughts as to which remaps are better ? ive found the Revo site everybodys been on about, but unsure whether to go jabba or revo

and thanks for the styling links. having a look now :D

The choice of remap is entirely up to you, all you can do is try to make yourself more aware. I think in general you will find there is a leaning toward REVO for the TFSi on this forum as it has been proven to be very good.

If you want to take things a little further then REVO is an excellent choice as they have an excellent upgrade route via a newtowrk of national dealers. Stage I is the first purchase and then should you wish to go to stage II it is a £50 +VAT upgrade and there is also a Fuel Pump file currently under development on one of the Briskoda members cars.

Coupled with the ability to 'tweak' or adjust the map yourself via the Select Plus switch as you make further modifications and the fact that you can also turn it off for those times when you don't need it make it a nice little package.

The EVOMS is a very capable CAI and has been proven to increase by circa 12hp and there has also been a recent release by VF Engineering which looks promising and I know one Briskodian has one on order so hopefully some pictures when it arrives.

I don't think you'll need to worry about a Boost Controller at this stage.
