41k Service

Featured Replies

Went to my local dealers on fri (derek slack motors, middlesbrough), to see about my 41k service on my vrs, i thought there services were ment to be pretty reasonable, but then he turned round and said £265, and also said the brake fluid is due in september but its cheaper to do now another £30 :thumbdwn: i'm not impressed with the price, as i am only an apprentice so money is tight, so does anyone recomend anyone in the area?

also the car has extended warrenty so i presume genuine parts need to be used?

Cheers

Marty

Hi Lummox or anyone who knows the answer :)

I'm a little confused re 40k service and my service manual etc are 180 miles away.. (doh!), I have almost reached 40k and usually get round to my 10k services in September when the car hits it's yearly birthday. I've gone a bit crazy this year and expect to hit 40k in about a month. Does that mean I wait until September for my service or do I need to start arranging it when I hit 40k what ever the month is?

Also i've been reading on the forum that the 40k service needs to include a cambelt change which makes the service rather expensive. Is this correct?

My vRS is a September 2004 model.

Sorry for being a numpty and thanks for any advice. :)

All depends on when your last service was done mate:

If say your car was serviced at 30,000 / September 2007 then it will be due at 40,000 / September 2008 whichever is the sooner.

If say your car was serviced at 34,000 / September 2007 then it will be due at 44,000 / September 2008 whichever is the sooner.

You need to factor in the cambelt, tensioner and waterpump change every 4 yrs / 80,000 miles whichever is sooner on the 1.9 and also remember brake fluid & air-con services are every two years.

For a full service that is very reasonable.

Hate to be blunt... but if you opt to purchase, run and insure a vRS as an apprentice you should factor in servicing costs.

I just paid £261.08 for my 40000 service so that is about right what you paid.I was told my brake fluid needs changing before June (when car is 2 years old).

Ah, ok thanks. No getting out of this one then, better start saving or rather stop spending.
