Skoda Felicia Rear wiper - It won't stick on intermediate wipe

Featured Replies

My rear wiper will not say on intermediate wipes for some reason, it worked before! The stalk is fine but it does seem to rebound back into the "off" position i.e. it does not stick on intermediate.

Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Mine never has, I was under the impression that it was on or off.

I remember it going for a while unless it was an electical fault! I really don't know! Maybe I'm wrong!

 My rear wiper only runs as long as I press the stalk to "on" position, never locks there but springs back to "off" as soon as I let go (and according to the owner's manual this is how it should be).

Different on different models? Mine's a 1998 1.6 Lx.

No actually you are right, mine is on when i depress the lever which springs back when you let go, so wiper never stays on. Its rubbish especially this time of year.

Thanks, as I've said it could have been the electrics!

My rear wiper does likewise. If you really want you could probably add a switch to keep it turned on, and even use a 3 position switch and have one switch to an intermittent relay so you have constant on and intermittent on.

Mines the same.

Sometimes if you push the stalk far enough it turns it on intermittently but I just push it when I need it.

Its not caused me any bother.

This always used to puzzle me for a while - until I work it out.

For the rear wiper a lot of them are just push wipes. On higher spec cars like the GLXi, and SLXi, you can push the stick down to spray - just quickly, and it sprays and wipes, push it down again - just to wipe, and it then goes onto intermittent. If you want to turn it off, spray it again when its wiping - well thats how my rear wiper seems to work!

For the front ones, they have a timed intermittent. Click it up to the intermittent setting - and then flick it back off - or onto a speed. Leave it for say 4 seconds and then flick it back onto the intermittent setting. This will then set the wipers to intermittently wipe for 4 seconds.

You can set it for any time you want at all - it must have a timer circuit in it somewhere. Very cool when you get used to it - the only other car to have them is the VW Jetta, so enjoy.
