Fabia 'Greenline'?

Featured Replies

Does anybody have any news on the new super-efficient Fabia (Greenline?)

Thanks

It is based on the 1.4tdi pd from what i understand, but only offers 69mpg compared to the standard 1.4tdi pd's 68mpg. The main difference is the 109g/km co2 output but that still puts it in the £35 tax band B the same as the standard 1.4TDI pd. You dont get things like a spare wheel but get a puncture repair kit instead, no air con, no electric windows, extra plastic bits underneath to break off on speed bumps and basic colours only oh and a super trendy 'Greenline' sticker on it. With prices starting at £11,490 why not just get the better model fabia 2 or 3, after all we all know that the "global warming" is just a lie to force us to pay more tax, when actually it is just climate change and not something that we can control.

It is simply another version of the VW Polo BlueMotion / Seat Ibiza EcoMotive that the VAG have added to its collection.

its a con, just like the toyota prius

small capacities modern diesels are just as efficient and come with more kit

Yeah but then it'd be 99g/km co2 of output!:bike:

Proberally has something to do with Fabia II being shapped like a brick compared.

Would sir like a white roof on his brick

Sorry I stand corrected, 99g co2/km, or 109g co2/km either way its just another way to sponge more money out of tree hugging hippies who are jumping on the 'green' bandwagon.

There was a story recently of a presenter who went to a green convention with a petition calling for the immediate ban of all substances containing dihydrogen monoxide, he got lots and lots of signatures. just goes to show that the cretins have no idea what they are on about.

BAN WATER!!! WOO YEH SAVE THE PLANET!!! WOOO

IDIOTS

Wow. This just goes to show how an awful lot of people leave their brains on standby and then forget how to turn them on again. (If they'd thought a second longer, they'd realised that without water, beer wouldn't be possible, and that would truly be the end of our civilisation).

On a slightly related note, there was a few years back a politician in Denmark who ran for local office in some small town. He annihilated the opposition after having promised that if he won, he would outlaw headwinds on all bicycle paths in the community.

Priceless!

I believe keeping your car serviced properly and not mashing the accelerator and the brake in traffic are the best way to save fuel/CO2. You can make your car greener and it's free. Woo hoo!

Buy the base Polo Bluemotion rather than the Fabia , it gets free road tax , as far as I can see thats the only thing worth buying it for.

Until they up the stakes next year or the year after :slant:

And then there is the higher than usual purchase cost which is much more than you will ever save in fuel or road tax.

Nah, just buy the standard 1.4 TDI 2 80 PS. Road tax is just £35 a year.

Oh dear :(

Agreed - as I see it, it's either don't pay any road tax and drive around in a noisy poverty spec environment or pay a little bit of road tax and get all the creature comforts which will actually make journeys pleasant. No brainer, imho!

Chris

i specced a golf bluemotion "match" with non metallic, sat nav, cruise, and climate. came to 20k....

which is more than i paid for my ex demo 407GT... ****** to saving road tax.

I'll try saying it again (he says clearing his throat). Here goes: A BlueMotion TDI Polo is significantly more expensive than a 1.4 TDI 2 Fabia. And with the Fabia, not only do you get to keep a whole load of change by choosing the Fab instead of the Polo (around £1700) you also only have to pay £35 road tax a year. Oh, and you get air con too...

ANy clearer?

In sweden you get a 10 000sek refund from the goverment six months after you have bought a car with 120g/km co2 output or less, plus lower tax. All diesels skoda sell in sweden have particle filter - I think all (allmost?) new diesel cars in sweden have.

That our cars are as fuelefficent as possible is a necessity - not having understood that in 2008 is strange... *said hugging a tree*

Question,

How does the absolute minimal fuel and tax saving outweigh the MASSIVE extra original purchase cost, without creature comforts?

Answer,

It Doesn't.

Perhaps stop *hugging a tree* and use common sense first!!

What are your views on dihydrogen monoxide by the way?
