no offense but its not vRS

Featured Replies

Excellent, all I hear now is Sir Sean Connery.

Slightly fitting as the vRSs could be considered 'Q' cars

Is it desperately sad that I've identified the stills as being from "From Russia With Love" and "Goldfinger" respectively? ;)

Nah it's James Bond that doesn't count in geekyness besides your scottish aren't you and Sean Connnery is god or something isn't he:)

Well, the James Bond and "I'm Scottish" bits are certainly true.

im sure from what i know its always been victory rally sport. and there was some sort of argument over the rs badge and skoda didnt give up...

why do they have massive "V"s on their rally cars if it wasnt meant to be a V?

But if it was a "v" it would appear in all markets, but its home country, the rest of europe and australia etc call it just an "RS"

In fact as far as I know only the UK call it the vRS (and in any case that is in a bizarrely lowercase "v" way)

You need to get out more if you're concerned about such small matters as this.

Heres one for you to worry yourself sick over - Southwell in Nottinghamshire - Some people say Southwell, some say Suvul. Ring the local Council and ask them for the answer :D;)

vRS sounds cooler than just RS anyway ;)

i mean whats so great about a cars name that when its said fast it sound like your saying "****" lol

Can you get a (skoda) RS badge on the continent?

Skoda define this as the "SkodaMotorsport logo":

The SkodaMotorsport logo is a based on a "V" for Victory and the accent over the "S" in Skoda, it is however a logo/monogram not an abbreviation (ie it is not meant to be an actual letter).

Hence the "vRS" should read "SkodaMotorsport Rally(e) Sport" if the logo is read as part of the name.

But the actual model is an RS (in theory if Skoda chose they could offer a SkodaMotorsport body kit, which could wear the "v" logo badge, but not the RS badge).

As a result the models produced for racing/rallying wear the SkodaMotosport logo, but NOT the RS logo (which is a road model designation).

They do however fit a SkodaMotosport steering wheel to the RS, hence the little metal "v" tick on the bottom spoke.

The v is used in UK vRS models because Ford got all arsey over the use of the RS name.

The v actually comes from the top of the letter S in the Skoda name.

was gonna say, being a ford perve, its never gonna be an " RS " like the Cosworth, in my eyes its a VRS

bit like people calling the clio's " RS " ( renault sport)

the only RS that sticks in my mind is of the ford variant :)

I once lived near Shrewsbury (well, twice actually); some said Shrohzbree, some said Shroozbree, some said Shrohzbuhree, and some even said Schoozbee???

Maybe they should have stuck to its old name, Salop? :ne_nau:
