Headlights - Fabia vRS with Xenons

Featured Replies

Well, I decided to change my lights this morning, putting in the blue sidelights, silverstar indicator lights and rallye bulbs for the main beam.

According to Jon's post here, and according to the handbook of the fabia, main beam bulbs should be H3 (which is what I ordered from powerbulbs).

So after 5 mins of disconnecting the battery, an hour of struggling to get the headlight loosened to have enough room at the back, and another hour to recover the bolt I clumsily dropped in front of the engine (the one with the big threaded plastic washer on either side of the headlights, by the front grill), shock horror, the main beam is NOT H3 but infact H7

Cue lots of :cussing: and abuse to the car and Skoda for getting things wrong, cue another 30 minutes of figuring out how to fit the sidelights (only on one side cos I can't be bothered to take the car apart to have access to the headlight in front of the battery), cue another 30 mins putting everything back together again, and the final result is only indicator bulbs and one sidelight changed.

Bigup a big :thumbdwn: to Skoda for getting it wrong. Looks like it's not only engine oil where there's confusion between us owners and Skoda :(

May I suggest those who have 04 regged fabia vrs with xenons (or not) check your bulbs.

May be worth Jon editing his post accordingly and add a big note saying the manual is wrong too :D

Other point to note is if anyone wants some H3 100W rallye bulbs at the FJMM, they're welcome to buy them off me.

Grrrr
