Skoda 120 Upgrades/Modifications

Featured Replies

Hello

Now that I have picked up my 120 and having pretty much no real knowledge of the beast, I need to know what are the best upgrades and modifications to go for. I want to keep the car looking completely standard externally and retain the 1174cc engine, but apart from that anything goes. After having looked around the 'net a bit I was considering the following as a starting point -

Weber Carb

Replacement Air Filter

Ashley Performance Exhaust

Manifold

Koni Suspension

What else can I do to make run and drive better?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Ian

Uprated brake pads.

Ported cylinder head.

For better interior comfort, try finding some 130GL seats and doorcards, with the caps. Also, the carpeted rear shelf from a 130GL lowers interior noise.A nice Rapid steering wheel and gearknob look good too, as does the later instrument panel.

Oh yeah; the standard discs and 4-pot calipers will cope with anything that a Skoda engine (even the 1.3l 120 bhp twin Weber 8 port head ones) can throw at them.

first thing is a manual switch for the radiator fan.

everything else is good but sort the running first or you'll regret it later!

:)A nice basic mod that makes a big difference to the way these cars drive is chop about 6 inches off the gear lever.

I agree with daverapid about the gearlever chop - did that to several of mine over the years I had them and it improved the gearchange no end! Also, keep a check on the coolant level regularly, and try to top up with the correct grade anti-freeze, not just water.Above all -Enjoy it!

Something more important than suspension mods are decent tyres. Any RWD skud on rubbish tyres is just asking for trouble.
