Choice of Toyo Proxes T1R Reinforced ££65.42 OR Pirelli P Zero Nero ££65.04 OR Kumho KU31 Reinforced (with rim protector) £55.47

Anyone got any advice?

Cheers

I have some Goodyear Eagle GSD-3 f1's and i like them - very sexy tire.

All depends what you want really, proxes wont last long but will have good grip

You'll easily get 20k out of a set of T1-R's as long as you don't light up the wheels at every set of traffic lights. Don't think you'll go wrong with any of those three, tbh. :D

Agreed as long as you get a decent make and not a Kleber or Nankang (cheap)

As we all know performance and cheapness dont go together

ive had t1r's, very good tyre but as said above if driven hard wont last long. but isnt that the case with all tyres?

I've also discovered that paying a lot for a tyre also doesn't guarantee decent performance (ie Michelin Primacies and Conti SC's :()

I vote for P Zero Neros;)

My neighbour (a Ford estate) needed his tyres replacing after "just" 12 months so he upgraded to premium tyres which then lasted... 12 Months. He's switched back to economy in the knowledge that he'll need to budget for 4x new ones annually.

I typically go with a good quality tyre (£50/ea) to avoid blow-outs but then I mostly do A roads where you really don't want things to go wrong. So far (touch big plank of wood) nothing has.

dont get t1-r's mine dont have much left in them and theyve only been on about 7k.

and I dont drive like a loon either

I'm really not sure about Toyos myself, I have them in 215X35X18 fitment on my OZ SuperT's and they don't seem to give you any warning when your on the edge. One minute your merrily driving around minding your own buisness..then next minute BAM!...your sailing backwards with a nasty case of oversteer.

I have never had any problems with Toyo's. I had them on my FRS and now on my Furby VRS. Give excellent grip in the dry and and wet. I have done 10k on mine and the fronts still have 4 mm left!

I hear a lot of people say that they can never tell when the tryes are going to go. Truth is its the same with every tyre. They all have an adhesion limit and once reached, it goes. Once you drive your car, you get to know the limit point ( or should do?).

I think tyre wear is partly down to the compound but largely down to the driving style. If you go howling round corners fast, then expect the tyres to wear quicker by the greater pressure placed on the tyres.

I say this a lot, but all tyres do provide feedback about their limits and it's a case of "feeling" what the tyres are doing. Limit handling courses certainly opened my eyes  I'm surprised you're getting oversteer though - are you lifting mid corner?

Mine's got new bridgestones on the front and conti SCs on the back. I'll be going for eagle f1 gsd3s when they're worn out.

I have eagle f1 GSD2 on the fronts after having Bridgestone ER300 and the difference is massive.

I think that other tyre makes would be very hard pushed to beat F1s

You have never used them in the snow...

No its not snowed since i have had these tyres. Im sure in snow it wouldnt matter what brand you had,

Thanks for everyone's input, gone for the Neros in the end.

I had Kumhos fitted to fronts yesterday, impressed so far. Bloke in tyre place said they were a good allrounder, have to agree, less noise than whatever it comes with when new and i'd say better grip.
