I'm bidding on wheel arch protectors in the hope that they should keep the rust at bay.

My idea is to

clean up the rust patches,

spray the wheel arches

Stick on the strips and use a sealant to make it watertight.

Ot won't it make the blindest bit of difference.

HeHe, i'd be tempted if they weren't so expensive,

but remember, wheel arches rot from the inside out, these wouldn't stop but could cause more rust. In the short term, they would cover up any bad rust removal remedies though.

i know that on the golf GTI the arch protectors did nothing but trap water.

I have a set of these, brand new in the box...
