Sometimes my average mpg display keeps the mpg from the last journey, sometimes it starts again. Is it possible for it to take an average for several journeys, and if so how do you reset it again?

Only if those 'several journies' are within 1hr 30mins of one another.

To reset, hold the reset button in on the underside of the stalk, until the display reads -.-- again.

If you press the reset button on the underside of the stalks breifly it switches to "mode 2" which measures overall MPG from when the last time it was reset, regardless of the journey time interval, upto a maxium of 9999 miles if I remember correctly.

mode 2 will keep running until 100 hours of driving then it will reset to zero . . . I'm not sure if it was coincidence or not but my glow plugs light began flashing as I approached this landmark - maybe warning me I was about to loose the information?

I thought mode 2 was the average over the last 50 miles you have driven?

I remember something like that in my handbook?

Trip 2 (the total distance memory) gathers data from any number of individual journeys up to a total of 100 hours driving or 10,000 km driven. So Trip 2 mpg is the average over that total distance recorded.
