Fabia prices

Featured Replies

Is £3500 to much for a silver Fabia 00 W plate 1.4 16v with 52k miles at a dealer.

I haven't seen the car as it's my cousin thats looking at it somewhere in London.

52k miles, FSSH, 4xEW and rest of Elegance luxuries

I have advised him not to pay over £3000

But the dealer has said it will have a new MOT, Cambelt change and serviced before sale.

So I need a bit more expert advice.

Hi. I have an 8V and have been looking at prices on and off for a while - they do seem to vary enormously. I don't know which year "00" is (or did you mean just W?), but there are a few Elegance models on here: Used Skoda*Fabia - Find Used Skoda*Fabia Cars for Sale @ BuyYourCar.co.uk Their prices look high to me.

If you have the full reg no. of your friend's prospective purchase, you could get a quote from: webuyyourcar.com Coming Soon! as if you were selling it; I think their prices are quite low, so I guess a reasonable price is probs somewhere between the two.

It'll be a bad time for selling used cars at the moment won't it, with March being a new reg month? Others will know more about negotiating tactics than I though.

Hi, I was looking at a Fabia Elegance in London two weeks ago in Finchley at a dealers there. They wanted £3,500. but said would have accepted £3,300

it was overdue for a service though which they offfered to do

Seems very expensive to me!

PX book price in showroom condition is £1750 so I'd be haggling hard on that!!! :D

£3250 he's paying for it

He admits its dearer than some other Fabias out there but he's happy with the car and I'm happy that he's got a skoda.

He should be joining here soon.

lol and here i am, no cheap shots at how much i paid. I'm happy with the car (considering it is my first). I needed something quick and reliable and it was way below my budget!

£3250, he needs a psychiatrist (sp)

Wouldnt pay over 2k for it

much to exspensive.

Ah well , as long as the man is happy with what he paid and he likes the car , then its okay! Welcome to the site BTW Loy , enjoy the Fabia.

As long as there's good warranty with it, say for 12 months, at the Skoda dealer, then perhaps it's not bad. We will all pay a premium buying from the dealers. :)

I Paid £3995 in 2005 for my 1.4 MPi with 29K on the clock , and a 12 month warranty , and I didnt get heated seats , rear elec windows , met paint or alloys , oh and mines a V reg.

To be fair the prices havent dropped to "book price" at all and prices for the 1.4 16v can vary a lot.

And if I was in my cousins shoes I would have done the same thing and paid the extra for the re-assurance of a dealer supplied car for that amount of money.

Plus his insurance isnt that much.

I bought my Felicia by bidding on ebay without even actually going to see the car. A major risk.

Loy has been to the dealer, test drove it examined it and liked it that much

For a figure of £4000 he's got a quality car and wont need to worry about major things like a cambelt util 110/120k miles.

Welcome to the Skoda world

And now we're Skoda brothers :D

definately happy. I got 12 months warranty, MOT, Service, Cambelt Change, usual dealer stuff. All in All I have paid well under £4000 for a great motor, insurance and tax....

Plus the extra money I saved I can go buy my misses a new power steam iron..... (damn those creases in my shirts)....

Hello Loy and welcome :) My 1.4 8V Y-reg does have its foibles but I've become used to them now  so, as a female who knows nothing, I don't panic as I've learned most of them  Still happy generally though.

PS Way off topic, so feel free to ignore: Re shirts, just get your Missus to buy some from Next, poss cheapest of the non-iron ones, or be sure at no more than 800 rpm then hang them up straight away (or pref after a brief spell in tumble dryer). Even a really expensive power steamer might not help if the creases are well and truly set. A slow dip in fabric conditioner in very hand-hot water, then literally drip dry might help to get them back on course...

Buying from a dealer doesn't guarantee you a decent car - it's still pot luck. I'm sure even Skoda tart up the rough ones to look presentable.

Personally I think it makes sense to buy private - you should be able to make big savings. Also you can ask the seller lots of questions and they should have the answers, do an hpi check for £5 (RAC) even pay for an inspection and buy a years warranty cover if you really wanted to.

I only say the price is high as I have bought a car and know what to look for.

Buying any used car is a risk.

But once you learn about cars as you own/drive learn as you go you know what to look for when you buy another.

I drove an Astra before my Skoda and we got that from a dealer £3300 at 6 years old (1995 N Reg)

Dealer supplied and serviced.

Now I save a litle money by going to a trusted mechanic.
