Pro Alloy FMIC

Featured Replies

Just managed to get hold of one of these second hand and was wandering if anyone has any experience fitting one??

I have two long Silicon hoses and an air temp sensor with it which I believe is the full kit (Minus bolts....)

Does the bumper etc need modding?

NO!

NO!

....and yes, if you want the full benefit. :D

What difference do you get from not cutting the bumper then?

Half of the intercooler will be covered :)

Yes I know that as I have one fitted ;)

What I want to know is what will be (If any) difference in temps?

I have logged 20 degs on full boost so it's not that bad at the moment!

That looks good !

Couple more questions...

- Does the crash bar need modifying like the Forge one?

- Where do the pipes go? (Pics??)

- Where does the Temp sensor go? (Pics??)

Thanks for the help

If you want to keep the bumper OEM then make a duct / scoop from the FMIC to the opening in the bottom of the bumper.

providing you seal the scoop at the FMIC then all the air has to pass through the FMIC, which will probably be more air than by just cutting the bumper alone.

  1. If opening up the bumper like mine, yes you do need to modify the crash beam, as it is channel section simply cut the front sectiopn out, i.e. leaving the top and bottom piece intact, thus maintaining a fair degree of strength and a clear passage of air.
  2. The pipes connect to the existing pipework.
  3. The temp sensor goes in between the black hose from the i/c and the inlet manifold hose, you should have a alloy hose connector for it to screw into??

Right...

1. I'm guessing that is what this is......

2. Does this mean that the FMIC is used in conjunction with the Std Intercooler?

3. Yes I have the hose connector - Does anyone have a pic of the location?

Cheers

I thought it was the map sensor that should be in the tubing near the FMIC. Isn't the air temp sensor in the inlet manifold/ throttle body?

Yes, that is the bottom of the crash beam the top section runs out of sight along the top of the bumper.

The std intercooler is taken out to make way for the pipework.

ste.

Right I am fitting this on sun (along with my coilovers and Rear ARB) and want to make sure I know exactly what I am doing!!

What is the sensor I have? Map? Temp? what plugs into it?

I am guessing the piping and mounting should be pretty straight forward??

As much info as possible will be useful to help this go smoothly.......

Cheers

Map sensor is attached to your original SMIC and will/should fit into the hole on one of the pipes you have.

Sorry i can't help anymore as i fitted my forge which is slightly different from yours.

2 pairs of hands helps as well.
